OK, this is a dyed-in-the-wool, true blue, til the end-of-time Ged Gal.
I love him to pieces, can't get enough of that man.
I adore his voice. I really could listen to him talk and/or sing damn-near all day long.
So this will maybe sound strange, even shocking to some of you...
On a couple of songs... yes. A little bit too much...
... ... ...
Only on a couple of songs, where Ged's voice was doing some fill, but an instrumental fill might have been just as good (or even a touch better).
The lyrics, the bulk of the songs, are wonderful just as they are. But there were just a couple of spots where they could have done instrumental, rather than vocal.
Like on "WTW", they could have faded the vocals out for a few reps of the title line
And similar on "The Garden", at the end, maybe one or two reps of the "In the fullness of time..." bit.
Possibly "Caravan", as well, but where would I have cut any vocals? I'm not sure. Maybe I just played it a bit more than needed before the album came out.
... ... ...
The rest is still perfect, to me. I wouldn't change anything else at all.
Ged's voice is awesome on every song! Gorgeous and strong, beautiful as ever. I still firmly set myself in the "I-could-listen-to-him-recite-the-phone-book" camp. So it feels so weird for me to say that ... on a couple of songs, I might have prefered one or two fewer reps...
yeah. OK. Get the straight-jacket.
I've lost my mind!
-
The Anarchist.
It just hits me that way.
plus, it was playing when I voted...
-
Hard to decide between The Wreckers or Wish Them Well.
Both are wonderful to me.
I went with WTW...
by a tiny, tiny margin.

Fun to see! Thanks for the link

I hope you have the MOST WONDERFUL TIME of your life at the concert, Garden Dancer; you deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!And you, babe... enjoy your Rush show!

Steve Vai Steve Vai STEVE VAI!!!

Steve VaiI saw Vai with Billy Sheehan on bass a few years back. It was a small club, and I was right up front. Billy held his bass out to me and I plucked it. That was cool. Billy is no Geddy Lee, but man...he's a badass bassist, that's for sure!
And Steve...yeah, Steve is sex on legs, for sure!
Also, you mentioned Queensryche. I have seen QR like 5 or 6 times in concert, and I have met all the members (except Chris DeGarmo). Very nice guys, but beware. I sat and talked with Michael Wilton after a show once. We talked about Rush (told me about the time he and Chris got to meet Geddy and Alex and how cool they were) and just music in general. The whole time we were matching each other drink for drink. By the end of the night, he had proclaimed me as the new "Master of the Universe" and I never had such a horrible hangover in my entire life. Master of the universe, indeed!
Good times...
I'll be seeing Steve in August! Sex on Legs is right. My Gods, the man is impossibly hot!!! And the venue is general admission, so I'm planning on getting there early so I can grab a close spot. (*I'm visualizing myself right up at the edge of the freakin' stage.*)
This time his bass man is the amazing Philip Bynoe.

I am out-of-my-brain thrilled to see Bynoe, would have been just as thrilled to see Billy. Both are just insanely awesome. ( tied for second behind Ged. )
I am ridiculously jealous that you got to meet Queensryche (OKay, why didn't you get to meet Chris?) But d@mn babe, even more that you got drinkin' with Michael! OMG, that had to be something else!
(Sorry to hear 'bout the hangover, though... )

QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jun 23 2012, 10:35 PM) ok, here's how my brain works...
meet Alex. meet his wife. woo the wife, see if she "goes that way". boom - 3 way.Hmmn. Wonder if a similar strategy would work with Steve Vai and his lovely wife...

QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jun 20 2012, 10:44 PM) ladies.... does the music of Rush ever make you have that "oh-so-special", tingly feeling? Geddy's Bass gets me there, so damn easy.
(bass+sexycute=Me, melted)
for guitar, it's Steve Vai.
OMG, what I'd do to have just ...
Just thinking about either of those men puts me in my warm happy zone...

I'd say anything from Steve Vai.
Flex-Able for it's sheer peculiarity and the sound of Epicness as it's just emerging...
Passion And Warfare coz it's a freakin' classic
Fire Garden It 's just too much for words...
The Ultra Zone Another one where words simply fail me.
Alien Love Secrets Just... seriously. If none of the others, you gotta give this one a few thousand listens...

Good/very good I like Snakes And Arrows. Some days I like it a lot. So that one I call good/very good.
Very good I love the songs and energy of Vapor Trails. Yeah, there are some serious issues with the sound, but I love the songs. So for the songs, I'll call Vapor Trails very good.
Great Clockwork Angels, I love. Absolutely love. Maybe I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase with it, but the more I listen, the more I love it. I'm going with great.
-
On the computer, with really good headphones
Yeah, it could be better.
But really, I'm good with it.
I love it so far, and the sound issues aren't so bad... to me and my ears.
It's good. It could be better, but it's good.
So I'm good with it.

BU2B - Believe in what we're told
Until our final breath
While our Loving Watchmaker
Loves us all to death...
The Anarchist - A missing part of me that grows around me like a cage...
Carnies - How I prayed just to get away
To carry me anywhere
Sometimes the angels punish us
By answering our prayers...
Halo Effect - It's shameful to tell
How often I fell
In love with illusions again...
Seven Cities Of Gold - Glowing in my dreams, like hallucinations
Glitter in the Sun like a revelation
Distant as a comet or a constellation...
The Wreckers - All I know is that sometimes the Truth is contrary
Everything in life you thought you knew...
The Garden - Forever dwells in that moment
Hope is what remains to be seen...
Love it all, but those lines... Just stand out for me
-
Yup. I'm only on my first listen, and I know I'm gonna want to give a few more spins to fully feel and appreciate what I'm already enjoying.
I love so much from Rush, but every album took at least 3 times through before I was really ready to decide just what was resonating in me. Just how each song was hitting.
Coz first listen, it's just trying to absorb all this "New" and get a feel for which direction they decided to go this time around...
Second time, now there's starting to pay a bit more attention to the lyrics and grasp the story that each song tells (or in the case of concept albums, each chapter of the story that each song tells...)
Third, (for me, anyway) is where I can dive in and really feel the groove and start on the judgement of Like/Don't Like/How Much I do or not...
So yeah. at least three for me. Five is even better.

Santa wraps everything.
Santa's helpers wrap most of the gifts.
One year when it was me and mom as Santa's helpers, we assembled my dad's 'big' gift, then just stuck a red bow on top.
Santa still wraps everything. Even gift cards get special treatment... stuck into other gifts, or presented with some kind of unique 'flair'...
It's just part of the fun, I think.

QUOTE (HowItIs @ Sep 18 2011, 04:32 AM) Halloween IS my favorite holiday! I have so many decorations that I'm always finding new ones when I go to get them out - I'll buy them after Halloween and toss them into the box. Being as our house is set back from the road and shielded by lots of trees, we don't decorate outside very much When we lived in the city, we'd really go for it. One time, Hubby played live music!
Of course, now that the girl is all grown up she does her own thing. Costume parties with friends and such. But she loves the holiday, too.
However, it also has a somber aspect for me. It's one of my faith's high holy days: the end of the old year and when we remember those we have lost. So, while I enjoy the fun bits, I also try to acknowledge the sacredness of it as well. After all these years, I've managed to find that balance. To strike that balance between the secular and the spiritual aspects of the day can be a bit of a challenge! Congrats for that achievement
My sweetie and I were Hand-fasted on Halloween night, so I find myself dividing the day into pieces...
Early in the day, a look back on the year that's passed
Toward Sunset, we look forward to the possible trick-or-treaters (none at all, last year... )
Late evening/into early morning, a renewal of vows and looking toward the year ahead.

I'm not sure whether or not this pic has made its way into the new thread. This thread has over forty pages now and I'm too lazy to go back through them. So I'll just stick it here.
That's what she said.
Oh, Ged. The hair...so beautiful. I want it.*snuggles close to screen*
"Mine."
"All mine... go away."
"Me and Geddy need some time together, just the two of us..."
