QUOTE (jonfiredaman02 @ Feb 23 2008, 08:01 PM) And the edges are sharp and dig into my arm. But I want it SO much anyway. Then get yourself a 4001s; it has rounded edges so it's more comfortable than the standard 4001.

Snakes and Arrows doesn't quite do it for me. I don't think it's as strong of an album as Power Windows, or Grace Under Pressure, or Hold Your Fire. It's definitely better than Test For Echo, Roll the Bones, or Counterparts (but anything is better than Counterparts.) I wouldn't say it's the "best album since" anything, but on equal or lesser status than the ones previously mentioned.

I absolutely hate Kurt Cobain. I don't see why everyone thinks he's so great, he was a mediocre lyricist and an awful, awful singer. I also hate Janis Joplin, she has that same annoying back of the throat sound as Kurt Cobain, I hate it.

I grew up listening to my parents records and when I was in high school, I started building my own record collection. My vinyl collection now is around 500 some records. I've got records spanning almost all genres, but mostly classic rock from the 60's and 70's. I own most of the Beatles catalog, including some pretty rare discs such as Introducing to the Beatles (mono) and the original error pressing of A Hard Day's Night. I also have most of the Rush catalog on vinyl minus FBN, CoS, HYF, Presto, Vapor Trails and Feedback. I prefer listening to music on vinyl; CD's and MP3's just don't have the same sort of feel. A lot of albums just don't sound right if they're not coming from a record.

The only song from RTB that I've heard is Dreamline, and it's one of my favorite Rush songs, so I'll have to go with Dreamline. Maybe once I hear the rest of the album I'll have a new opinion, but for now, Dreamline is the best.

The "weirdest basses" link has a picture of a Rickenbacker 4080, how is that weird? I think it's one of the coolest guitars ever made.

Don't have any alcohol in the house at the moment, so I just had a Tab. I think I'll have another one right now.

2112 is probably my favorite, along with Grace Under Pressure, Moving Pictures, Power Windows, and Permanent Waves. Those are my top 5, but I also like Hold Your Fire, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings, Counterparts, Snakes and Arrows, and Test for Echo. Not so much a fan of or Signals. I don't own Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, Roll the Bones, Presto, Vapor Trails, or Feedback, so I can't give a rating for those.

I used to think Freewill was the highest he ever sang, but then I heard Cygnus X-1 for the first time the other day, and I think it's slightly higher than Freewill. He really shrieks out that part near the end on Cygnus.
Temples of Syrinx is pretty high too, but not quite as high as Freewill and Cygnus.

QUOTE (makehaste2112 @ Sep 8 2007, 07:58 PM) Thats a sick picture of The beatles in the background!
Oh, and the bass is cool, too.
Thanks, I got that picture at a garage sale, it's a great picture and I've never seen it anywhere else. That's my Beatles Wall, I have some of my best Beatles records framed around the picture. In my bass picture you can see Abbey Road and the bottom half of Introducing the Beatles. I also have a really nice near mint copy of The Beatles Again (aka Hey Jude) up there and I plan to frame a few other choice pieces from my collection. The next one going up is my original issue error pressing A Hard Day's Night album.

I've had my bass for quite a few years now but I'm just now trying to learn how to play.
Here's my bass, an Ibanez TRB-50. I don't know what year it is, probably around '95 or so.

Not really an incredibly fancy bass, but a good bass to learn on, I like it.
As for an amp, I use a Peavy Microbass. I don't know much about amplification and effects so it works just fine for my needs.

I haven't heard Hold Your Fire, but Time Stand Still is one of my favorite Rush songs. It has a very un-Rush sound to it in general, but in parts you can feel classic Rush elements coming through. How does the rest of album compare to Time Stand Still?
