  1. QUOTE (Mr. Henry Gale @ Jun 6 2012, 03:01 PM)
Just wanted to take the time to write this,

I became a Rush fan at the age of 14. I had just missed the Vapor Trails release, but I had gotten into them because two of my friends in Middle School were into classic rock. I was first introduced to the band when they lent me 2112, and Grace Under Pressure. I was instantly hooked and every week my my mother would give me $20 for lunch, and for half a year or so I started skipping lunch for the entire week and would instead go to the local CD store and buy a Rush album on Fridays. I devoured them (studio albums and live releases). I also started posting over on Counter Parts during this year (feels so long ago).

Anyways, to make this short (and not too sappy a post) - I was a fan for the Snakes & Arrows release, and I didn't like it. No, this isn't a post about whether Snakes & Arrows is good or bad (it's completely subjective, and it just happened to be an album I wasn't fond of). Getting to the point, Clockwork Angels is an album I really like. It feels amazing to be a fan and for the first time be apart of a CD release that I actually really like. Obviously I've had this for other bands. But Rush has always been my favorite, so this is extra special for me. I now know how it feels for you life long fans, who were around for all the great releases throughout their momentous career.

So yes, I'm really enjoying this album. But more so, I feel really elated at being able to experience new music from them that I like - something that I didn't get to experience with the rest of their catalogue. Thank you guys as well, for making this a great place to be able to share this experience.

    good stuff gale

i became a fan around the same age, but for me, i just missed the presto release, so rtb was my first new release as a fan, for which i also used my school's lunch hour to run and pick up that cd. imagine hearing dreamline to open up your new first release... cool.gif

  2. On what date are you expecting to receive your complete CA Fan Pack? I ordered one yesterday and don't want to have to buy the CD if I don't have the fan pack by or on the 12th. If I don't, I wonder how long I can hold out on not buying the CD while I wait for the fan pack to arrive...probably only until after the mail is delivered on 6/12!

Anyone know when we should get them or how to track them? confused13.gif

Fail. That is neither new nor interesting information.

The fact that tickets go on sale this weekend, though . . . holy crap! A year ahead of the dates?! Man, they must really need some cash.

    that is odd unsure.gif

    anything worthwhile about the album/tour?

I really hope the strings haven't replaced the fluttery keyboards in BU2B. I love those parts. sad.gif

yep. if anything i would hope that the keys were brought up in the mix.

Btw if there was an option for lack of decent vocal melodies, that's what I would have voted for.

    +1

The only issue I have with the album was the production, as the music could've used a little more punch to it. Otherwise I enjoy the whole album whenever I listen to it.

    Exactly.

yep...i don't even mind the production that much...i love this album

  9. a rush only festival would work just fine.

phish has always done this and their festivals are some of the best concert/camping experiences i've ever had in my life.

just think: arrive on a friday, and then rush plays 3 sets on sat and 3 sets on sun....what's not to like?

if you dont like the drum solo then go take a piss or grab a beer.
a majority of us love the drum solo.

it wouldnt be a RUSH concert without it.

TMT was the first tour where I did use the drum solo as a bathroom/beer break yes.gif

You know, you hear stories about how certain bands get along, or don't get along - separate dressing rooms, separate travel arrangements; they don't say a word to each other for a whole tour. I can't possibly imagine something like that.

well, al and ged do have separate travel arrangements than neil

They care about nothing but $$$. They're a business. What happened today when they released it? Traffic spike, show that to their advertisers, raise ad space cost.

They don't care about us or anyone else, they just want traffic. They know Rush has fans and they want us coming there. To think they're just doing us some sort of favor is silly.

    Tears (With String Section)
    Madrigal (With String Section)

i get your point, but let's try to be a little more realistic in terms of a setlist shall we? if those songs are necessary to include to justify a symphony, then i'm with the folks who don't want one. still, to each his/her own... 2.gif
