  1. My wife bought me a ticket in the 2nd row to the Tulsa show on 9/21. It was an early 50th birthday present, and she just bought 1 ticket because she didn't want to go.

Now she has changed her mind and wants to go to the show after all... so I'm searching for a pair of tickets together, hopefully close to the front. Livenation/Ticketmaster redirect you to a partner site that errors out. Stubhub and others list tons of tickets, but don't tell you what seat you are actually buying (only the section/row). I'd rather not spend $4-500 per ticket and be clear out on the far end of the row.

Is there a site that sells Rush tickets that actually shows you what seats you are getting? In particular, to the Tulsa show?

  2. That was Broon's Bane wasn't it?

As for the new solo, how about "Gangster of Boats Trilogy, part 5"?

Or "Leave that freakin' thing alone already!"

No... since it's just Alex, probably need something like "Hope, pt. 2"?

I noticed during the encore at Mohegan Sun he would remove his left hand from the neck of the guitar drop it to his waist and open/close/open/close and shake it a bit when he had the opportunity (La Villa Strangiato)

He did that a few times at the KC show as well. I think it's just a way to deal with mild Carpal Tunnel or just old age creeping in.

I've noticed as I've gotten older that even sometimes while shaving, I have to switch hands and wiggle my fingers a bit to keep them from feeling numb. Depends on what I've been doing lately and how tired I am - could be a similar thing for Alex too.

He still rocked it out though!! 1022.gif

  4. I could use some tips too. I took close to 150 shots at the KC show and only about 15-20 of them came out. I have an Olympus FE330 point-and-shoot. It normally takes great pictures, but at the 2 shows I've taken it too so far, I noticed that if I zoomed in at all, then the pic was blurry. And even with the great seats I had, I had to zoom in to get any closeup at all.

I'm seeing the guys again in Tulsa in September - would love to take some better shots.

  5. At least the big band ending is different this time around - different enough to make it fresh again I think.

I enjoyed it at the KC show. And I've listened to the boot a few times and still enjoy it. In fact, the last part of it is the best in this particular case.

The earlier bits feel forced to me. When he cuts loose and plays with the big band samples, he is playing much better in my opinion.

  6. I hope this doesn't turn into a Portnoy-bashing thread... I met the guy at the KC show and he was incredibly gracious. Anyone who wanted a pic or an autograph got one, even though he was there to enjoy the show with his woman. He could have easily told people to push off, but he didn't - that is rare in music these days.

And for the crowd's part, they respected his privacy. Only during intermission did he really get mobbed with pic requests (me included wink.gif). During the show he was left to jam along with the rest of us. I was sitting 4 seats away from him. Watching him air-drum along with the crowd was an amazing sight smile.gif

  7. I was at that show... and I agree with everything you said smile.gif

Alex did seem a little subdued compared to how he usually is, but he had a few cutup moments. He still rocked it and his instrumental after the drum solo was wonderful!

A few technical glitches aside, this was an amazing show!

  8. I think he went to a different show than I did... and I was at the Kansas City show.

For me, this was the best of the last 3 Rush shows I've seen in KC. They had an energy that they've not had the last 2 times (probably because it's earlier in the tour than they are usually here).

I bought the Kansas City Star the morning after the show, hoping to see some coverage... this wasn't what I was hoping to see sad.gif

  9. I was sitting 4 seats away from Mike Portnoy tonight at the KC show. I saw him sit down and thought it looked like him, but I wasn't sure. Then during intermission some people started talking to him and he graciously agreed to let people have some pics with him.

I got one with him, but I can't post it until I get home and can download it off my camera. He was so nice to the people asking for pics and autographs, and he never turned anyone down. It was great to see him air-drumming with the rest of us smile.gif

  10. Maybe it was the section you were in, but I was in the 9th row, directly in front of Geddy and the crowd was pumped! The guys were on tonight! Awesome show, better than the last two KC shows in my opinion.

Plus... Mike Portnoy was there! I was sitting 4 seats away from him and got my pic taken with him during intermission. I'll have to wait till I get home tomorrow to get it off my camera, but I am so stoked to have a brush with one of the members of my 2nd favorite band smile.gif

I love it that I had avoided any spoilers beforehand. It made everything new and exciting. The videos were awesome, even if the last one was a little longer than it needed to be - it was still funny as hell.

Great show! Great band! Can't wait to see them again in Tulsa in Sept.!!

*edit* oh, BTW, Brought Up 2 Believe is awesome live!!

Caravan isn't bad, but BU2B is just amazing!

Bad news, dude.  The show starts at 7:30, not 8:00.  That's a countdown to the first time Geddy says  "Hello, Albuquerque!  Thanks for coming out!  We've got about a million songs to play..."

    ...followed a little later by a selection from;

"We'd like to take you back to our xth album now"

"We're going to take a little break now to go and get some brain surgery"

    "Thank yoouuuuuu!"

    "Thank youuuu very much"

    "Thank you very kindly, goodnight"

The new one for this tour will probably be:

"We'd like to thank you for coming out and celebrating our past, present and future with us" or "...for stepping into our time machine with us"

    You forgot:

"You guys were awesome tonight! Hope to see you on down the road some day!!"
