I have that same HotWheels 166. But yours has a different paint job than mine.

Look what I scored on Ebay!
Yup! That's the way models looked back in the '50s and '60s! Now they're a frickin' MAJOR PROJECT, with metal and resin and precision masking stuff included! I used to build PYRO kits that gave you chrome parts and normal color parts as a choice... hunter, what model of Ferrari is this? I got a copy of an old AMT kit which was shown on an earlier post, from E-Bay pf a '55 Chevy with a Bubble top that I'd made and destroyed years ago...almost the whole decal sheet made it a sweet find!
main body painted and hood , and chassis, but that will mostly change. This was a model I bought in the late '60s. '68 '69 st a GAMBLES store uptown.
Nice. That is the 166 Barchetta. The Red Barchetta. :)

Yes. The bassist couldn't do it at the time and the project kind of stalled. Any bassists want to take it on? I'm looking at you Tarkus406. :) And sure vocals would be cool.

If I could find a real brand on the used market that had the smooth heel that'd be great, but there aren't any. Unless you go with a Charvel Desolation. :/

A lot of people say that the company that makes that guitar is not good quality. I'd rather save $200 more and get an Epiphone Les Paul Plustop Pro FX used. Those are actually good and still a reasonable price.
I actually owned one of the plustops. It was decent but I could never get it intonated correctly due to the poor fret work.

Yep. i saw both of those after finding the Alex copy. I'm sure it's a crap shoot.
The thing is there are multiple sellers, like Amazon. It may depend on the shop you purchase from.

What is it about that particular guitar that you can't find in a more, let's say, reputable make/model at a similar price?
For me, most importantly is the smooth heel at the neck body joint. and the color and quilt maple top. I've owned the epiphone with the floyd and it wasn't great, at least the one I owned.

Have you seen these? Probably crap but maybe a good place to start if you want to build your own. Put in a Ghost loaded Floyd and some better pickups...

On the live video and seeing it live it sure seems Headlong Flight is in open E tuning. There are all kinds of alternate tunings on Snakes and arrows too.

Big smile on my face watching the episode, especially the history of our favorite car. :-) Check it out if you get the chance.

Any one see the latest Portlandia? It's Neil's update brought to life. :D

I love these. Long lasting if you replace the ear pads...

The bike was still running and his "rain jacket" was not even torn
Sounds like ol' Neil forgot to put the kickstand down before getting off the bike
Right? Overly dramatic much?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the riff similar to the lick in The Analog Kid @ 3:46? Not exact but similar...

Cheers!

You know this is where Neil got the line. I mean, they thank Asteroids right in the liner notes. Can't imagine there wasn't a Space Invaders machine right next to it. :D
