  1. Prog Magazine has a pretty good readership....they did a list of the 50 greatest albums of all time a couple of years ago...while It did not match my personal lists, I cannot hate a populus that put SEbtP at no.1

  2. Nice Win, congrats boys

Though, I don't know what the time scale was (looks like all the albums released a year previous to the time when the winners were announced Sept-Sept), though it didn't get a nom, Grace For Drowning was album of the year for that time span..IMO...more defining of the term "Prog"

Okay something is bothering me... and I feel a bit stupid..

I do like how in the live versions of JB songs how he will throw in a short riff from another song from another artist... well, I was re-listening to "Live from no where in particular" again yesterday and could not pin down the slow bluesy riff right at the end of that version of "If Heartaches were Nickels" (from 3:23-3:43)... recognize that riff, but I cannot think of what it is... Im gonna feel stupid once someone tells me, but for the life of me I can't think of what it is and it's annoying the hell out of me.

I Want You/She's So Heavy from Abbey Road.

Thank You....that was bothering the hell out of me.

And FWIW, the two songs from this album that I think are destined to be undisputed classics in the future, meaning songs that would have to appear on any best of collection from their latter era (or any best of collection that encompasses all Rush eras), are Clockwork Angels and The Garden.

Headlong Flight will probably make it as well, and maybe even Caravan, but those two for sure - CA and The Garden are legendary and epic. yes.gif new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I can agree with this somewhat in the way I define a "classic"... A classic would be as Gary defined it "would appear on a best of collection" years down the road......

But I would also say a classic would be a track "destined to be a live staple" to where years after the initial release would constantly be in the setlists.(If Rush hypothetically were to still be touring 10 years from now)

SO DAMN GOOD, I really don't care for reg Guinness, but I love the extra stout, and this blows even that out of the water... SO DAMN GOOD..

Though, Ive had quite a selection of both Porters and Stouts and cannot really tell the difference, if any. Can anyone tell me the difference between a Stout and a Porter.

I wonder how many people it took to make this in the dead of night.

The funny thing is, whenever you see people who try and recreate crop circles to show them as a hoax, they always look horribly clumsy compared to the actual crop circles. I can't imagine the kind of operation it would take for a bunch of hoaxers to make a design this intricate and beautiful and mathematically perfect in one night without waking the entire countryside.

    Gary, Google "Bower and Chorley"

on a side note, that first episode kind of looks like Boba Fett

  8. If we stay healthy and keep everyone off the IR list (a task on it's own considering how last year went), I see no reason why we should not take it a bit further this season... I think Houston is a shoe-in for the AFC south... Indy and Jacksonville I don't see giving us trouble, but Tennessee is a wildcard...as a Tennessee fan as well the this year is gonna be fun to watch.
  9. Can't wait for some new Doctor Who .... I was watching alot of the classic Doctor Who episodes a while ago, but I kind of stopped a bit (right before the start of series 6) but I plan on picking up again with the classic Who after the first half of Series 7 has finished...

I kind of stopped right at Tom Baker's last season, Romana II was still the companion... Im actually really looking forward to the Peter Davidson years but a bit apprehensive abut the Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy years, when I get there what are the essential episoded I have to watch from the 6th and 7th Doctor years? I really dont plan on watching every serial from those two eras.

  10. Just for fun, post your fantasy teams for this year..

    QB- Aaron Rodger (GB)

    RB- Maurice Jones-Drew (JAC)

    RB- Pierre Thomas (NO)

    WR- Roddy White (ATL)

    WR- Mike Wallace (PIT)

    W/R- Ben Tate (HOU)

    TE- Jared Cook (TEN)

    K- Neil Rackers (WAS)

    DEF - San Francisco

    --------BENCH--------

    Philip Rivers (QB-SD)

    BenJarvus Green-Ellis (RB- CIN)

    Ben Martin (RB- TB)

    Reggie Wayne (WR IND)

    DeAngelo Williams (RB- CAR)

    Vincent Jackson (WR -TB)

(after I got my starters I went to auto pick on the draft (using NFL.com), and kind of got screwed... too many RB and WR.. no backups on TE K or DEF)

  11. I really enjoy enjoy horror deconstruction.... where the filmmakers purposfully take cliches and themes and plays off of those in a comedic or commentaric fasion...This film did a great job of that, another film that did iit well was "Behind the Mask: Rise of Leslie Vernon"

Grilled BBQ chicken, with rice pilaf and side salad..

The only thing not homemade is the sauce on the chicken, the sauce is from Green Mesquite BBQ here in Austin.

  13. Clockwork Angels I would classify as a "Top Notch" album and one of their best, easily the best of their latter career.....(horrible mixing issues aside)

But I reserve the term "Masterpiece" for records like "Sgt. Pepper", "Selling England by The Pound" "Wish You Were Here", "Heaven and Hell" all the records from "2112"-"Moving Pictures" "Close to the Edge"...etc. And as much as I like the new album, I just cant put Clockwork Angels in that same echelon.
