  1. It's True: While researching Permanent Waves for a project of my own last year, I learned of the photograph which had inspired Hugh Syme's artwork for the LP. I assume half-responsibility for the image of the 'Original Album Cover' posted above; after a bit of digging, I unearthed the original photograph Syme had used, then superimposed the first image of Paula Turnbull that Syme had rejected (above) upon that photograph.

    Someone other has come along since and added the Dewey Defeats Truman misprint and the building marquis in the background.

  2. "Here Again," Alex chimed as he picked-up his axe, strummed a chord, then looked at Geddy and said: "I don't wanna sing my robotic vocal contribution in Subdivisions because it's challenging to watch Neil's hands, pretending he is holding two unicorns."

    I don't understand Alex's position, but The Mighty F#7add4 Chord sounds as good as it ever has!

    "Maybe I should learn that chord!," said one unicorn, bouncing off drum-heads, hooves thundering across Neil's indestructable toms. The unicorn's horn snapped-off in Neil's hand, and the beast flew across the studio. I wonder why the horn sounded

  16. In an effort to illustrate the importance of analogy in the arts, I emphatically alliterate on a dipthong or phoneme or two...

    Like a mountain river bleeding; like iron tears; like o'l Sol behind the mountain; like a spiral sea; like two passing ships; like demons possessed; like an English rain; like the Music of the Spheres;

    Like a steely blade in a silken sheath; like the breath of a sleeping white dragon; like the whole world exploding; like a pillar of cloud; like spiders on your skin;

    Like windshields toward a fly; like a rare and precious metal; like a streak of lightening; like a brilliant shooting star; like a time bomb; like a mystic; like the heart of the Earth would burst;

    Like shadows in the dark; like a stranger coming out of the rain; like a rebel or a hero; like an open sore; like the rest of the world; like lovers and heroes; like the days were carved in stone;

    Like a million little crossroads; like Russian roulette; like a wolf in the sun; like a cat in the rain; like a coral reef; like a force of nature; like whirlwind of leaves; like a torn-up photograph; like boxcars in a train;

    Like interstellar beams; like a shipwrecked mariner; like a pair of vagabonds; like malice through the looking glass; like an ancient river; like a ghost rider; like bonfires in the dark; like footprints in the rain;

    Like what others see; like a cornered beast; like we're back in the dark ages; like crusaders in unholy alliance; like a solitary pine; like a stone in the river; like the willows in the wind; like the forest bows to winter;

    Like a flower in the desert; like a righteous inspiration; like a teardrop in the ocean; like some pilgrim; like an hourglass, grain by grain; like voices in a hurricane; like a creature in the headlights;

    Like a cornered beast; like a sad heart; Like a mountain; like rain.

    er... ...and homophonically speaking:

    On Sundays eyed, elude the eyes!

    (but, of course!) ;P

    Rush On (Tour, is it?)

    Soon we shall see, indeed!
