    with the exception of very few shows like "Numbers" or "Cold Case"... there's not that much of a loss, at least as an audience member.

     

    most of what Hollywood spews out is complete crap. naturally, the producers are as much at fault as the mostly talentless hacks they hire to write the junk.

     

    i'd feel more empathy if i gave a hoot at the nonsense coming out of the industry. as it is, I don't think many of us will notice much difference between the staff writers' work and the piles of scripts the producers have been digging out of their rubbish cans the past coupla weeks...

    You'll have to forgive me cuz I just realized there WERE barbie dolls at his feet only about a month ago (I was staying away from all the spoilers, etc. until I could see the CA shows in Aug, and even THEN was never up close enough to see the dolls)

     

    But it just hit me that the Barbie dolls are supposed to be us.

    It's a really good thing I don't interview him. good lord...

     

     

    (after 20 minutes of interview)

     

    Alex: "...yeah, and so Neil came and we started to lay down the parts, together--"

    Unable to stand it any longer, AQ abruptly stands and turns to leave.

    Alex: "Oh, I'm sorry, did we go over the time?"

    AQ: "NO! No no. I just need to take a cold shower RIGHT. NOW."

    Alex: "Should I come back later--?"

    AQ: "Ack!"

    Alex: "It shouldn't be hard to reschedule--"

    AQ: "Stop it!"

    Alex: "Are you feeling okay--?"

    AQ: "Eek!"

    Alex: "Ya know, I could fix you a stiff drink, if that'll help--"

    AQ runs in sheer panic from the room...

    That's really one of the things that sets Rush apart from other bands that have been arround as long as they have, they still really love to hang out with eachother and they are still friends. biggrin.gif

    Other bands have been around as long? unsure.gif Not in the same format anyway. One on the list of many admirable things about these guys that make them soo cool man yeah!!! 1022.gif

     

    ZZ Top - I think - is the only other band w/ the same line-up who's been around anywhere near Rush. I thought Aerosmith, was too, but I coulda sworn they've had a band member change, somewhere...

    Hmmm, it's hard to say.

     

    Their first show in Europe is in two days (I guess it would be tomorrow, by now...). I would assume they'd have slated time for rehearsal, and - I would hope - rest from travelling over.

     

    It's not like I'm privy to those details, but I would imagine with those things, etc. to consider that they'd be there by now.

     

    Having said that, I'm all for the 'what the heck! Pretend it was!' school of reality. icon_really_happy_guy.gif

     

     

     

    I'm reminded of my friend and I wtg for the box office to open for the Shoreline, CA show, back in August. We saw Neil ride in to the venue on motorcycle. Not a MINUTE later (no joke) the box office opened to begin selling tix that hadn't gotten sold, yet.

     

    So we spent the whole evening telling our friends how 'us and Neil, yeah, we're like THAT. As soon as he saw us sitting on the grass wtg for tickets, he told them to open up the box office for us. Oh yeah. We know Neil.' rofl3.gif rofl3.gif

    For a number of reasons, I wasn't in Rush mode during VT and Feedback and even up to the release of S&A.

     

     

    So now I'm watching the Vapor Trails YouTube video interview with Andrew DeCurtis that I missed the first time around...

     

    And I'm finding myself in tears. So many things going thru my head. I am...awed at how freakin' GOOD Alex and Geddy look, how fantastic they look together, and just how amazing they are, as people, as they're talking about dealing with Neil's grief and the angst they went through in making VT.

     

     

    The video doesn't translate it really, but watching the two of them interact w/ each other, reminds me of when I met them during the Meet N Greet on the TFE tour. One of the things that stood out to me was watching Alex and Ged interact w/ each other. It was...unbelievable experiencing the chemistry btwn them in person. It was palpable; you could literally physically see it. It was like a bubble that kept them connected them.

     

    At one point, Alex was standing next to me and Geddy was talking to another fan across the table. Alex was trying to get Ged's attention to ask him to sign the banner for me (it was my friend's banner). In the quietest, most gentle voice, Alex simply says, "Ged?" I'm standing right next to the boy and I'm thinkin' there is NO way Geddy heard him. He's got this fan yakkin' in his ear, he can't have heard him. I barely heard him.

     

    But sure enough, Ged turns to him. And freakin ell you could feel the chemistry btwn them just from that tiny simple exchange. I think my mouth actually fell open. Swear to ged, I am convinced that all Alex really needed to do was think it, and Geddy would have turned his head. To this day I am still floored by the bond between them.

     

     

    So as I watch these videos (and thank you CeeJ, that Orbit Room vid was hysterical), I am amazed at how much more I can love these guys!!!
