  1. Mission statements are completely moronic.

    Our company aims:

    - to nurture a collaborative spirit of innovation.

    - to work together to find new ways to nourish our company ethos

    - to pioneer a philosophy that facilitates productive teamwork

    - to reconcile divergent attitudes, approaches, and frameworks

    - to pretend not to notice the redundancy and meaningless of the company mission

    etc.

I don't understand any of those...

I mean, sure, I understand the meaning of the individual words.

But collectively they make no sense whatsoever.

    Just pseudo-intellectual sounding bullshit.

Big words, put together, signifying nothing.

  2. PeW was my sister's and I's intro to Rush...so that warranted some obsession. Moving Pictures was our first concert, so ditto. Grace Under Pressure, the same. Retro-obsession for 2112...played that non-stop for a while (cue 'the rollerskating story'). Signals didn't gel w/ me as much. By the time Counterparts rolled around though there were more influences to my musical taste, more things happening in my life. So when the new albums came out they didn't provide as hard a hit...also didn't help that they weren't as good in overall quality as the 70s and early 80s albums, and the styles were vastly changing. Though I did love Roll the Bones and Test for Echo for short times, the love wasn't as obsessive as for those early ones.

  3. Well, it's classified as a Yellow Dwarf...so, you know, there's your answer.

    (doesn't mean it's yellow, though...technically it's white)

I bet you've seen some real yellow dwarfs in your time!

    Sure, jaundice.

And they've since died of liver failure.

    So that's that.

Ever seen a grown dwarf naked?

    Are you offering?

I'm a bit too big to be a dwarf! :smoke:

So you've gone supernova then...good for you.

  5. Harry is a fan

( yes, he really is .. a few years back, my sis met him at a 90s night at a club here in NJ .. Although they only spoke for a minute or so, he professed his love for the Rage Against The Machine cover band playing that night, plus all things 70s and 80s rock )

.... looks to be a very cool old Ford Carpi in that Queen pic too

    Who is Harry?

    Harry Stiles

I don't really know what he does...just his name.

    Possibly something boy-band-ish.

    Disney, maybe? I dunno.

  6. Or is it because I think Judas Priest’s so called heavy metal album British Steel is embarrassing?

Bwaking The Law, bwaking the law...

Oh come on...at least United is pretty cool.

  7. I do tend to agree with you....I hate to see our elegant and complex language misused and even abused on occasion..

A pet hate of mine is the gross misapplication of the word "awesome".

Black Holes are awesome, The Grand Canyon is awesome, what you had for breakfast is not.

AMAZING! does that for me as well. I have a friend for whom nearly everything they see, do, eat, hear, attend, drive, experience... is AMAZING and it drives me pretty bonkers... but she's an awesome human, a good friend and a very sweet soul so I deal with it...

    Amazeballs

    :eh:

  8. I'm guilty of using (or overusing) 'awesome'...but old habits n' all, plus I am a child of the 80s. Hard to let that shit go. At least I'm not talking 'valley girl' all the time (not that I was back then, but still, it did leak into the casual daily lexicon of the middle/high- schooler of the times)... I will endeavor to use 'awesome' less unless something truly warrants it. Oh, and usage of the word 'awesomesauce' in any application, at all, will result in that person getting kicked in the head. There is no excuse for that shit.

And I hate corporate speak. Those sentences don't even make any sense!! And the onerous leaking over into resume writing that results..gotta hit those keywords so to make the computer readers 'ping'.

  9. TSOR, but with the utmost respect to TS

    Red Barchetta... barely

YYZ, splitting hairs, this one has more hooks

Limelight, by a mildly larger margin than the previous photo finishes

Different Strings, in a surprise turn on events, my least favorite track on PeW edges out my second least favorite on MP

Natural Science > Vital Signs > Witch Hunt, because MP goes out with a couple light experiments and PeW pulls zero punches.

PeW > MP, but MP has one of the most perfect Side 1s in history.

Well, for that matter so does PeW.

  10. Permanent Waves wins by virtue of having Natural Science alone. What? Ok, fine, if you don't want my completely unbiased opinion. Fine, I'll go the long way around. :eyeroll:

    The Spirit of Radio

    Freewill

    Jacob's Ladder

    Limelight

    The Camera Eye

    Natural Science

Special mention, though does go to Vital Signs, because it's in my top 6. But since Natural Science is #1well... So fine. What have we learned here? Told ya so...could've just bi-passed this futility completely and gone with my opening sentence.

  11. Distant Early Warning > The Big Money

    Afterimage > Grand Designs

Red Sector A > Manhattan Project

    The Enemy Within > Marathon

    The Body Electric > Territories

    Kid Gloves > Middletown Dreams

    Red Lenses > Emotion Detector

Between the Wheels < Mystic Rhythms

8 to 1 in favor of GUP. Though I absolutely love The Big Money and Territories, I love Distant Early Warning and The Body Electric even more. Grace Under Pressure is just an all around excellent album.

Glad someone did this^^^for me although I disagree with the last one lol...Grace is just waaay better

Sorry...had it been another song, GUP may have had a landslide...but I happen to have a thing for Mystic Rhythms (I love the lyrical 'visual' imagery) and think Between the Wheels is *gasp* just ok.

Oh, and now that I look at it my math is wrong...it's actually 7 to 1 so thanks but no thanks for quoting that for all posterity. :poke:
