QUOTE (D-13 @ May 20 2006, 09:50 PM) QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ May 20 2006, 08:13 PM) QUOTE (D-13 @ May 18 2006, 10:08 PM) The reason behind the song Barracuda
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mx721PLMb6A&search=VH1%20heartAccording to the Wilson sisters, Barracuda got its riff pattern from Beggars Day by Nazareth and Achilles Last Stand by Zep.
from behind the scenes right? (btw does ANYONE have this on tape or something?! I can't find it and it's never on TV!!!) I heard that also Nazareth stormed into Hearts dressing room after the show complaining they stole the riff for Barracuda ...Nancy said..."hey man, no we didn't...we ripped it off of Led Zeppelin!" Then apprently they were cool with that hahaha
It was on In The Studio for when they spotlighted Little Queen and Dog And Butterfly that I heard the tale. Barracuda lent more to Achilles Last Stand structurewise than Beggars Day IMHO. Achilles though was ten plus minutes.

QUOTE (Necromancer @ May 17 2006, 03:37 PM) To be honest, i'm not a real big Sammy Hagar fan. I don't like his solo stuff and I HATE VanHagar. BUT... if i'm not mistaken, his first album was with a band called MONTROSE. Ronnie Montrose on guitar and Denny Carmassi (Heart) on drums. I can't remember the bass players name. The first side of this album was AWESOME. The second side was good, but didn't compare to the brilliance of the first side.
So... have any of you heard it? AND... does anyone have it? I can't find it anywhere. I have it on album, but I'm not buying a new phonograph for five songs. The bass player was Bill Church. The first Montrose album kicked ass!

QUOTE (Asian Rush Fan @ May 17 2006, 03:14 AM) If Rush and Floyd were to perform together, who would open? Neither as they both refuse to play with opening acts these days. PF usually toured without an opening act.

My favorite on FBN is hands down By-Tor and the Snow Dog. awesome song and killer riff.
-
Here Again and Working Man are my favorites on the album.
-
I go with the title cut, The Pass, Show Don't Tell and Available Light as my favorite tracks.

Cygnus X-1 Book Two is my favorite track on the album. They last played all of Hemispheres: Prelude on the Counterparts tour. It was awesome.
-
Cygnus X-1 RULES! I have to play Hemispheres after Cygnus X-1 now. I can't listen to Cygnus without Hemispheres afterwards. AFtK and Hemispheres are my two favorite Rush albums of the 1970s HANDS DOWN!!!
I still remember when WHJY played this album in its entirety in August, 1987 and the DJ called this A Farewell To The Kings. I then subsequently got a legitimate copy of the album and it rules!

QUOTE (defrushfan01 @ Apr 9 2006, 11:17 PM) out of every CD i own this is the cover i hate the most!!!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/DefRushFan/X.jpgApparently, North America hated the X album and its cover. I gave up on Def Lep years ago.
I know that Bruce Springsteen released his reunion disc with The E Street Band called The Rising the same day as X and The Rising killed the competition.

Don't ever take a handful of pills before a show(Keith Moon 1973 perfect example)

I think it is a great song. The only Rush song that was eh was Face Up but other than that I have yet to hear a deplorable Rush track.

I heard Dreamboat Annie on In the Studio this past Sunday which celebrated the album's 30th anniversary. I can't believe the album is the same age as yours truly(30) but still sounds fresh after 30 years. White Lightning and Wine, Magic Man, Crazy on You and Sing Child rock. The title cut is a greal relaxing number which came in three ways. Soul of the Sea is a great song.
Interesting, Heart did open for Queen in 1982 at the show Queen recorded for the album/DVD Queen On Fire Live At the Bowl in Milton Keynes in June of 1982.

QUOTE (Arleen2112 @ May 10 2006, 01:31 PM) QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ May 10 2006, 02:19 PM) People fail to realize that weed has tons of chemicals in it(only a hundred have been identified and a couple of examples are rat poison, carbon monoxide). Also, a proven fact that one joint is equivalent to smoking a pack of cancer sticks. I am not trying to start fights but marijuana destroyed my family. My second older brother would be an a**hole to me when high. My mother now has COPD which was contributed from the weed plus cancer sticks and breathing in asbestos but the weed snowballed it. My father worked in the US Army for 30 plus years and he was the one who explained on the ills of marijuana Thank you for sharing.
This thread is just for fun
If its not your 'type' of fun..there is plenty more here at TRF that is
I apologize for coming off as a somewhat of anti-drug fuddie duddie when I saw this thread. Those who love weed, I respect you and power to you but just take it easy with alcohol and any drug(just a worry wart here).

I like this one alotUntil you get caught with possession. Also, cops can nab you if you smell like you smoked it although you don't. I can't breathe in weed, not good for sinuses and my family was ruined due to the wacky backy. One time, my father smelled the odor on my clothes(although I have not ever smoked pot or cancer sticks or drank or done any illegal substances(I still refrain from those indulgements)) and barred me from my mother's house until I got my driver's license which wasn't until April, 1995(subsequent visits had me leave for the record store when my mom and whomever went to get high and I returned when they ran out of weed).

Saturday Night Live sucks now and the credibility went to Hell after 1999 or whenever it was. The original cast(Aykroyd, Chase, Belushi) and many great comedic actors got their start(Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, David Spade and so on) but since Chris Farley died the show has gone south.
Very rarely have there been great musical guests since the old days.
Many classic bands appeared betwen 1975 and 1992 or 93
George Harrison and Paul Simon duetting on Homeward Bound in 1976(better than the Simon and Garfunkel version by a longshot)
The Rolling Stones in 1978
Queen did Crazy Little Thing Called Love in 1982 and Freddie Mercury's voice cracked towards the end but still rocked plus Under Pressure
David Gilmour appeared playing an improvised instrumental he wrote called Song For My Sara(was known in Pink Floyd ROIO trading circles as Ah Robertson It's You but Gilmour stated the instrumental is called Song For My Sara) with The Saturday Night Live Band in December of 1987(the night after Pink Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour's first US leg ended) and he was one of two musical guests on that episode(the other was Buster Poindexter a/k/a David Johansen)

Clint Eastwood, Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone are my favorites.
Speaking of Sly, I just watched Demolition Man which had him as a 20th century cop fighting in 21st Century California against Wesley Snipes who stole the movie as Simon Phoenix. Denis Leary was classic in it as well as Edgar Friendly.
