  1. the only one I can think of is the later Brian Johnson stuff ...Like I love the song thunderstruck, but the vocals really bother my ears some ..

haven't seen Jeff Buckley mentioned yet .. I know his voice doesn't sit well with some folks ... I love it though

How could anyone not love Jeff Buckley? Or Tim?

I've heard it here and there (about Jeff) ... to be honest I' don't believe he had the perfect control at the top of his range that say Freddie Mercury or Steve Perry had (maybe Perry still does IDK)... but none the less, I love his voice and style

  3. I can tell you that with out a doubt I am a rush fan .. and that's the truth as I know it ... but I don't listen to them all that much .. and when I do it's usually 2112, Farewell or Moving Pics ... I've only seen them once ... I am probably more of a casual fan by most standards ... but they are one of my favorite bands so I think I am a "true Fan"

No, you are a casual fan not a TrueRushFan™ and that is okay. We can still be friends.

I think I am a true fan of any band I really like ... I think I just don't like the term "true fan" .. because the opposite of true is false ... and the only way I would be a false fan is if I said I really liked them ... but in reality I was just lying about it

  5. Interesting.

Both of those intros are excellent instrumental parts and I geek out over those, like the first part of 2112, Dream Theater's Overture 1928, etc.

I have to give it to Foreplay/Long Time. I Need A Lover has a great opening theme but I simply enjoy playing along with Foreplay ( :laughing guy: ) more. That intro is awesome to warm up on the guitar with.

I don't have an electric guitar anymore :( ... wish i did ... I do agree that foreplay would be the better tune to warm up with ... as foreplay should be i guess haha

  6. His religion has nothing to do with his death.

I know many Witnesses who have had complex treatments and operations, and survived serious cancer battles.

He was one of JWs? ... how could he go door to door and offer bible studys? that is a big part of their religion I believe??

He actually has done some door-to-door.

yea ... i just did a little reading about it ... pretty cool if he shows up with the pamphlet .... I have known some and they are very hard working people ... he certainly fit that description

I am not religious in the least bit, but holy crap...if Prince showed up at my door and wanted to talk Jesus I would have sooooo let him in. Even if I'm just nodding and agreeing and promising to give my life to Christ I'd be thinking ("HOLY SHIT...IT'S PRINCE!!!!"). :D

I would tell him to take a seat at the piano and sing me purple rain ... then I'll convert haha

  11. Robert

    Freddie

    James LaBrie

    Paul Rodgers

    Rod Stewart

all five are/where what I want in a rock singer ... power, range, control, uniqueness, and the ability to deliver a lyric as it was intended by the author

Rock has few new ideas to present to the world, which doesn't make it dead or dying, it just makes it less newsworthy.

this one line is the inspiration for this whole thread IMO ... there will never be another time of discovery in the genre ... we'll probably never see religious groups picketing a venue because they believe the artist playing that night is trying to get their teens to worship the devil .. the days of our favorite rock star biting off the heads of bats is all but over, probably ... I'm depressing myself now .. I miss the good old days for sure ... but what I ain't missing is great new rock music ... because rock and roll will never die ... ever
