  1. I might put very nice and say that God is taking them all to Heaven so they can play the great gig in the sky and he wants them all now, which probably means he's putting new rockers and musical inspirations into this world right now for future generations to learn and grow with.

But in secular terms, that's luck. Sucks sometimes.

In the end the love you take is equal to the love you make said sir Paul .... I certainly hope all these late rockers listened to him ... May they all rest in peace

  2. It means a lot to me because of the way it helps my son write and learn ... He told me he has met some of the nicest people here and I believe him ... I just started a few weeks ago myself and I have been looking at it everyday ... I can say I would already miss it if it were gone ... Bravo to the rush forum !!

    That's cool.

    Who's your son?

    And welcome to TRF Amps211!

    He's a great kid ....

and obviously has great taste and discernment. Always gives great takes on Clockwork Angels. Thumbs up!

He really loves that album ... I remember when he first tried to get me to listen to it I wasn't really liking it ... But he took his time and just kept sneaking in a track or two here and there on some mix tapes he makes for me and it grew on me ... He has done that same thing with several other bands .... Because of him I now enjoy bands like muse, the white stripes, radio head and many others .... You always want to think you have a big influence on your kids but the truth is he is having a HUGE influence on me

I wish I could connect with my parents that way. But, alas, they belong to an older generation and never got into that new-fangled "rock" thing.

Having common interest with your kids is a pretty cool thing but it isn't everything. I'm definitely finding that out with his sisters. They both are really into dance and well you know that kind of music. In a word I really do think it sucks. But for their sake I listen to it with them and sometimes I even dance a little. That always gets a laugh

I apologize if the Yukon Blade Grinder has warped your child in any way.

Warp on ... He will be in college soon and the last thing I want is for him to just blend in ...

I love it! No, entre, please don't blend in. The world needs more not-totally-normal people :D

You just never know what's going to stick with your kids .... I said to him a long time ago .... Why in the world would you ever want to be normal? Now he repeats that back to me every once in a while ....

  8. I find it funny that James is getting so much praise for his singing on the new album. His performances are always great on the records, so why would anybody expect anything else?

When I hear him on the new album, I just think "James is doing a great job as usual again, bravo sir"

At least you know he's there unlike Myung. I mean did he even play on the new release? I know it's a lot of music to take it but after three listens I can't recall anything from him so far.

I don't understand why he doesn't get more little spots to shine like the one in octovarium .... right before james stars singing "doctor sitting next to me, asks me how I feel" ... I love his sound right there ... sounds Geddy-ish

    :)

Well, no, but that's how I play right now. I'm self teaching and coming along slowly, but steadily. I haven't read sheet music other than drum charts since I was in high school, so it's been slow there. Figuring out where the notes are on the fretboard and trying to play some tabs has all been fun so far.

I do exercises for an hour a day on technique and learning, then either screw around or try to play some tabs for an hour

If anyone has any advice or links, I'm open to anything other than taking real lessons.

if you are working an hour a day with the bass that's enough ... but you need to get in a band or at least jam with other musicians as soon as possible ... nothing takes the place of that kind of practice IMO

  10. "I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you." ~David St.Hubbins

  11. So I told my dad to get Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, or Blackstar in light of David Bowie's death. I'm not sure if he's ordered one yet, so what I want to know is, for someone and his dad who have never had a Bowie album before, but have always known and liked many of the hits, would one of those three be a good place to start? (I've already heard and loved a couple tracks off Blackstar by the way). Should I have suggested something else? Let's Dance? Heroes? Space Oddity? A greatest hits? What do you think?

Hunky Dory and Ziggy are good places to start. I'm just gonna throw out a recommendation for my favorite too...Station to Station. Pretty much a flawless album to me.

Dad decided he's gonna get Ziggy tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

it is ordered ... here by jan 22nd
