  1. I agree it is really odd to have so many things strike out. You need to send something to mgmt., if I read your story and worked for the band I'd hook you up. You deserve something for all your effort 1000!

May do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, I even put "Thanks Liam!" on the ends of that LA Forum Priority Mail box I sent. I tried everything I could think of..... :-)

  2. Did anyone here call LA first to see if they would forward items to the band?

I did. Talked to someone there that said they would forward to the tour manager, but that was all they could guarantee. But, figured it was a longshot anyways since it was the last night. Phoenix also said that they forward when contacted via email, but that didn't work either. I think sometimes it is just chance based on who is working there at the time.

  3. Got my 2112 back yesterday returned to sender from Irvine, so that is everything now. And yes, I only sent the album jackets, not the vinyl! :-)

No, have never gotten anything signed by the band. But, it's all good. At least my good friend was one of the success stories. Can't say I didn't try hard enough.... :-)

  4. Some good news to report! A good friend of mine who also sent to Detroit and New Jersey but got those back unsigned sent try #3 to Portland. He got his Signals LP back signed by all three. Alex did the personalization. His first Rush show ever was on the Signals Tour, so he was thrilled!

  5. My Irvine package's tracking got marked "Refused/Return To Sender" today, so #5 will probably be coming back. Sent 2112 LP there.

I did send #6 to LA Forum, but I suspect the same will happen with that one or I won't see it at all. Sent Exit...Stage Left LP there.

    Oh well.....LONG LIVE RUSH!

  6. I think Phoenix should be on the no send list! I sent a tour book only to come back "Return to sender". Never made it to the hands of Liam or Rush.

Yeah, I guess we haven't seen any successes from there. Mine didn't come back return to sender, but no way to be sure if it made it to the band or not. I even emailed Phoenix before sending and they replied with this: "Yes, you can send a package to the US Airways Center and it will be passed along to the tour manager. Thank you. "
  7. Well....Phoenix wasn't meant to be....received the package back with no cardboard inserts, no note, no sharpie but my Permanent Waves LP was included...unsigned. Although, now I should probably call it Pancaked Waves because it was flattened and bent a little more. Failure #4.

I did send backup to California just in case, so there is still hope yet......maybe try #5 will be it.....

  8. Anxiously waiting for my tour book from Phoenix. Please let the third time be the charm!!

Anxiously waiting for my LP from Phoenix. Please let the fourth time be the charm!!

Out for delivery now....so will hopefully find out later. Fingers, arms, and legs crossed.

  9. For people wondering about timelines, mine arrived at the Seattle venue the Friday before the Sunday show so it was about as late as you can send it. It only got signed by Geddy so I have no idea if the lateness had something to do with it but I wouldn't think so seeing as the band couldn't have been in Seattle before Saturday anyway. Because I am a lazy procrastinating jerk, I got my wife to do the packaging, mailing and note writing. No idea what she wrote, but maybe it really offended Alex and Neil? :D

You sure she didn't write "Hi Geddy! Thanks for everything! Love, Apollo"?
  10. Possibly, but I do have one more thought to consider on this. Both times I got my items signed, I did include a note thanking them and telling them of why I appreciate them so much. I wonder if sometimes they are more inclined to skip over people who don't do this? It's just a theory; if you are one of the people who got your item back unsigned and also included a note of thanks, I'd be interested in knowing that. Again, just a theory.
I included a note of thanks with all 3 of my failures so far this tour and also in the Phoenix package I sent. Haven't had any return activity from Phoenix yet, but still hoping....
  11. My package was delivered to Phoenix today! Really hoping it makes it to RUSH this time! (4th time is the charm, right???)

At least I know it made it to the venue....

  12. Sent my R40 tourbook to US Airways Center...Only 6 wakeups till #R40PHX! I'll let you all know if it comes back signed...

    Peace!

Does Phoenix accept. I found a old list of venues that supposedly did not accept. San Jose and US Airways were two of them. I sent something off to San Jose. I figured what the heck it can't hurt

Emailed Phoenix and they said they would pass on packages to the tour manager. My Perm Waves LP is on its way there for try #4. Used USPS Priority Box this time and sharpie included. Fingers crossed.

  13. And, Rush1000, this sounds dumb but maybe they didn't have a Sharpie?? Be sure to put a Sharpie in your package before you send it (you can put in ziplock bag if you are paranoid about leaks) :P

I did include Sharpies in the Detroit/NJ packages, but not Utah. Figured they had enough, but wlil put one in the next one just in case. Didn't receive the Detroit/NJ sharpies back either...

  14. Okay Rush fans....I need your help!

First Rush show was in 1986. Most recent in 2015. After that 2015 show I have tried - without success - to get an LP autographed by mailing an LP to a venue they are playing at on this tour. I am wanting to know if I am doing anything wrong as I have struck out THREE TIMES.

    I have used these 12" x 18" mailers:

    http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ixUd-XVZL._SY300_.jpg

I include another one with stamps on it for return postage in the one I mail along with the LP, two 12" x 12" cardboard inserts to protect the LP, and a note thanking the boys and asking for it to be autographed. I have included tracking for all and this is what has happened:

    1. Sent priority USPS package to Detroit w/ my 2112 LP. It arrived Friday before Saturday show. It was sent back on Monday after the show. Received unsigned w/ my note still in it.

    2. After that failure, bought Perm Waves reissue LP (just in case signing dark 2112 LP was an issue) and Sent priority USPS package to New Jersey. It arrived Friday before Saturday show. It was sent back on Monday after the show. Received unsigned (and BENT) w/ my note still in it.

    3. Sent priority USPS package to Utah w/ same Perm Waves LP. It arrived Wednesday before Monday show. It was sent back on Monday night. Received unsigned without my note.

After reading through this and older threads I sent to Detroit because someone last tour had success. Same thing with New Jersey and someone here had success this tour. I emailed Utah recently and they said that they pass on all fanmail to the tour. Someone else here also had success.

I am addressing to Rush R40 Live Tour, c/o Liam Birt, and then the venue address.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? Could the packaging be too big? Packaging too hard to open maybe? If anyone has any advice please let me know.

I am thinking of trying one more time using a USPS Priority mail box and include the LP and a 12"x18" mailer for the return trip. Maybe if it really is hard to open the box might be easier.

I have only tried doing this one time before on the Clockwork Angels tour by sending in a Starman postcard, but never received it back, so I doubt I am in any database if they are tracking who is getting autographs.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  15. Question for those who have had success and had return tracking on their packages: When did the packages first show return tracking activity? Day of show, day after, or past that?

Reason I ask is that I sent to Utah (they said they would pass mail on to the tour) and it arrived Wednesday. Just checked tracking and it shows the return package arrived at the post office just before 10pm Utah time on the 13th, day of the show there. I assume they sign items in the afternoon around the time of soundcheck....so maybe possible they got it earlier and had venue mail them out. Just hoping third time is the charm after two previous failures.

  16. I was planning on sending my 2112 LP and a silver sharpie but now I am not so sure that's a good idea. Maybe the band can't be bothered to switch up sharpies?

It is a risk, definitely. I'll find out later today what the result is.....package was just delivered to my mailbox according to tracking! Still hoping for the best!

Oh well.....failure. Venue must have sent it back. No signatures on the LP and my note was enclosed. May try again with another venue.

For anyone that has had success, did the band return your note you sent them or just the signed item?

  18. Has anyone sent anything to Detroit/Auburn Hills?

I sent a 2112 LP to Detroit. It arrived Friday at Palace of Auburn Hills front desk/reception, so keeping fingers crossed that it makes its way to the band. Sent a silver sharpie along since that album is mainly black.

Been meaning to do this during the last few tours but never got around to it. Hoping for the best!
