It's one of their really dynamic tracks love it. I was so happy they played this at the CA concert in Birmingham England, they play this a lot on tour it's one of the bands favourites.
-
I love Chemistry, but it's often listed as a least favorite.
Marathon is amazing, especially in the middle 7/8 section. Some great drumming during Alex's solo.
I love it as well it's brilliant one of the best

This has to be said as it's been driving me nuts for decades.
Is it me or do you guys hear The Byrds influence on "Heresy" and "You Bet Your Life?"
I do!!
BIG TIME!!!
I love Alex's guitar on the entire record.
He's the best!!!
Next to Eddie Van Halen. LOL
His guitar work on this great album is vastly underestimated, will never equal the guitar solos on Signals but unlike Vapour Smells it has solos none the less.

By no means was Vapor Trails one of the worst records ever made. From a production/mixing standpoint - yes, it is one of the loudest and least dynamic ever made, but they corrected that with the Remixed version. There is still some really fine songwriting on that album, and for me it is a time relic that embodies everything the band felt about Neil's return. It is perhaps the most unique Rush album in that respect.
It's not one of the worst albums ever made in the world. It is by far the worst RUSH record ever made. "Test For Echo" blows it away. JMO

Test For Echo is frustrating though because to me the songs are half or part good. The result is a bland and uninspired Rush effort. Definitely my least favorite Rush album.
I totally agree.
So let's take "Time And Motion" for instance. I fuckking love that driving guitar riff but then that pathetic keyboard part comes in. KILLS IT.
HALF THE TEST OF ECHO IS GOOD HALF THE TEST FOR ECHO IS BAD!
Half The World drives me fuckking bonkers.
Talk about redundant.
That song is worse than anything AC/DC has done with Brian Johnson.

Why so much against HYF? I love it!
It's a great album I'm always playing it now.

"Tai Shan" is one of the most underrated songs ever made.
Alex's guitar part is off the charts. Neil's drumming is so fun to play along to.
Does not compute.
Then again I hate "Vapor Trails" so whatever.
That album was a BIG mistake I refuse to recognize it was ever made, that's not Rush.
You my friend are a newbie but I love your passion. Welcome to The Rush Forum. It will be closing in one year. Kidding.
"Vapor Fails" is one of the worst records ever made.
I actually like "Test For Echo" better!
So do I

Now I am gonna watch A Show Of Hands
The blue ray version is the best Rush video ever

There are 2 things I'd like to see them do? 1. Come over to England and do about 5 Open Air gigs in the summer in one place either London or Birmingham with it's central location and 2, go back into the studio and record one more great album and make it a retro album bringing back the bands fourth member the keyboards, it was their most popular time and I miss it we've had too much turgid music since Roll The Bones, I was very disappointed with Vapor Trails they could have done much better after a long break.

The albums not a masterpiece but it's better than the awful 'Vapor trails'.

I can take it or leave it not one of their classics, last decent album was Roll The Bones.
-
I love the song. The bass and drums just rock.
Absolutely

Saw some posts on here where this number has been heavily criticised? I personally think this is a brilliant piece of work highly technical like the weapon a true reflection of the electro age which Rush embraced so brilliantly whilst keeping their Rock identity. This song has everything, powerful thumping percussion that is the backbone of the track, Geddy bellows out an almost eerie robotic tone to capture the atmosphere of the song and to top it off one of Alex's trademark wonderfully creative guitar solos, how can anyone not like this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpMJDj4pXNM

Think this guys calls himself white noise machine on Facebook he pretty much nails it

Grand designs, the main reason I think was to do with it's location on the album, it seems to follow on beautifully from The Big Money. Also I have been playing this song almost every week for 30 years and find it impossible to get bored with it, don't know what it is about it but unlike most catchy tunes where you get bored of them I can't get enough of it, I'm even thinking of learning to play the guitar just because I wanna play the riff and solo (along with Dreamline which comes a very close second to this).

You Bet Your Life is a favourites closer for me, especially the way it fades towards the end with the lead guitar.

Moving Pictures had synths but they sounded better, and so did Alex.
Signals is very bland sounding, in neither like the majority of the keyboard work, and Alex has very few interesting moments IN MY OPINION.
Of course this will probably get dumped on, but never mind.
Time to dump!!! Subdivisions (awesome solo), Analogue Kid (awesome solo), Chemistry (awesome solo), Digital Man (decent solo), The Weapon (awesome solo). Forgive me but a guy mentioned Planet Of The Apes earlier judging by this post you must be on one! I challenge you to listen to this album in it's entireity and listen properly.
I Think You Guys And Dolls Are Bad Gamblers If You Don't Love "FACE UP!"
