  1. bean-tor, that is the most cutest avatar I've ever seen! :)

Aww thanks, Babycat! It's Emily's first Instagram selfie--such a happy little surprise

    She's such a cutie!

Thank you! Of course I agree and feel very fortunate

Right now, she's  in her hammock so it's calm around here for the moment...

  2. Not-buying-tickets-until-I-see-the-setlist crew, checking in.

I understand the band plans to invite you to rehearsals so you can see the setlist firsthand, because your attendance is REALLY important to them. They're actually pretty nervous about it as they'd be forced to consider canceling the tour if you couldn't attend. :(

Well, imo, they should simply cancel any tour plans if its a continuation of a tour with the SOS. I mean, seriously, at this stage of the game its now or never- pull out the big guns or go into fckin' retirement. Who has the time or patience for them adhering to old philosophies regarding tour protocol? "Oh, we'll never do a greatest hits tour like all those down-and-out loser bands". Get over yourselves, ffs. If Rush won't perform a setlist worthy of representing songs crucial to their development and success and satisfying their "deepest" fans, then they've lost any remaining integrity they have left.

They're limited to playing songs that Geddy can actually sing. Unfortunately that eliminates much of their earlier work. Most "old Rush good/new Rush bad" fans have trouble understanding or accepting that, and they get flustered when they don't play all of Hemispheres.

 And even with songs that he can sing, surely they must consider whether playing them will be so strenuous as to negatively affect the rest of the performance...

    • The bathroom is up the stairs, 3rd door on the right - it's got all the comforts of home. (in an emergency, we keep a bucket in the basement, but you're responsible to clean it out when the bathroom is free again)
    • Bring enough of whatever you're eating/drinking to share with the class. Be mindful of crumbs, and someone usually volunteers to vacuum after the party.
    • If it's cold outside - keep the door closed so we all stay warm. If it's warm out, keep the doors and windows open to allow the breeze to blow through. If it's sweltering, refer to the cold rule so we keep the air conditioning bill a reasonable amount.

I think that's all for now - but for more important rules see this:

Thank you for the welcome and the tips! I'll try to avoid the dungeon, haha!

The dungeon can be quite fun, with the right company. :)

 Shh, while I'm new here at least, shouldn't I seem like the good girl with just a little bit of mystery?

 Always keep a bit of mystery - and a little :coy:

This much I have under control ;)

Where in Canada are you located, my Canadian Sistah?

I'm out in the wild, wild west! How about you?

Nice! I may be a little closer to your neck of the woods in June... :yay:

Like say - errrr, Mid June? Perhaps the 14th??

Or perhaps a few days later...sadly at this point I'm not crossing the border. It would've made sense to add the 14th to my little adventure in tailgaiting but at the time, I was gonna need to be at work :sigh:

    Unlike. :(

Me, too. So close and yet so far!

We may need a new "over-excited" smiley if I can make that show work  ...still I'm very grateful for the shows I am able to attend.

  8. Let's go with Emotion Detector instead.

Maybe even Marathon and Emotion Detector as alternating Night A & B?

Then I would inevitably get Night A and be mad.

Well we can't have that! As long as you get your Marathon, I would still be quite happy with these two on alternating nights :)

Marathon is the one I don't want!

What are you trying to put me through here? :P

 Cruel and unusual punishment for no good reason is what I'm apparently trying to inflict upon you. Sorry! I meant that I hope you get to hear Emotion Detector! Serves me right for trying to sneak in a post during a work break.

  12. Nice job. Drawing hands is very hard. I've heard that for whatever reason, drawing four fingers + a thumb seems to almost always look odd, which is why cartoon characters only have three fingers.

Thanks, my fingers always end up looking like sausages for some reason.

Start drawing people wearing snow gear, that way everyone can be wearing mittens :chickendance:

One of my studio mates in university did not like drawing feet. Whenever we had a nude model, he would try to depict him/her in socks! The results were often more amazing than they probably sound.

  14. Hi!

I don't go to a lot of concerts and this is my first time on the floor for a Rush show - row 10. SO EXCITED.

Any advice on how to get the most out of the evening?

I'm 5'5" - how much heel do I need to be able to see?

I want to hear everything (of course) but people will wear ear plugs, right? Do you guys have advice on a brand or decibel rating?

    Thanks!

I'm 5'0" and had row 10 for one show on the CA tour. I was very fortunate that the 6'3" gentleman in front of me looked back and noticed that I was tiny. He shuffled over a bit so that I had a better view, and I had a great time thanks to his thoughtfulness! So I hope you'll take comfort in my experience-- I'm sure you'll be fine with 5" on me, especially if you plan to wear a bit of a heel or platform.
