  1. The main similarity between bro country and glam metal is that both of these subgenres get criticized a lot for being too much of a "corperate and mainstream" version of the respective country and metal genres. For me, it would be no contest, I would choose hair metal in this case, even if it was a very cheesy band like Poison.

I never was a huge fan of country music, especially pop country and bro country. I honestly do not like the fact that a lot of people think that bro country is a suitable replacement for rock and metal in the modern era.

I may not agree with a lot of what Dave Mustaine says, but he does have a point in this article. https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/dave-mustaine-lot-metal-players-who-couldnt-get-gig-settled-country

He's basically saying that metal musicians that had trouble finding success in this industry have begun to settle for playing with bro country acts like Brantley Gilbert and Randy Houser. As much as I'm happy that these musicians are finding success, I do feel it's a bit bothersome that country has kind of become this "back up plan" for rock and metal musicians.

And hell, even some pre-existing metal musicians have gone country. A perfect example for this would be how Ron Keel is nowadays. You can tell he wants his visage to be this leather clad, cowboy hat wearing country boy that happens to be a good guitarist. Meanwhile, people who knew of his first band back in the mid 80s know a much different Ron Keel, a guy with an amazing, beautiful voice who makes kick ass 80s rock n' roll music.

In my heart I know I'm a fan of metal, not country. And if I become a musician when I get older, I really can't see myself putting on a cowboy hat and singing with a Texan drawl. That's just not who I am.

  2. The reason no one takes Heavy Metal seriously is because many of the great classic bands dabbled in metal type songs before it was a genre. Then they moved on to other interesting sounds. Then came the clown show bands playing metal in their silly leather outfits.

The reason no one takes Rush’s synth era seriously is because those albums are relatively crappy.

The real reason why people don't take the synth era seriously is because they're shitheads.

  3. With Iron Maiden and now Within Temptation doing exclusively European tours next year, This raises a pretty bothersome problem.

Thanks to the fact that here in the U.S, our crowds just aren't that active at rock and metal shows anymore with the advent of smartphones, bands are now refusing to tour in the U.S. I'm sorry, but when is it going to be time to say enough is enough with this filming the whole show on your phone garbage? I'd say when it gets to the point where your favorite rock and metal bands are taking a stance and refusing to to play in America, it's gotten too much.

Shut the fcuk up you boring ass pleb

Why don't you go fuck yourself?

  5. Didn't Alex make a comment on it as well? I think I saw something on Rushisaband...

Can you imagine the jam session they're having somewhere right now? Malcolm, Lemmy, Dio, Bonham, Randy Rhoads...

    Heavens best supergroup

    Ray Gillan: Vocals

    Randy Rhoads: Lead Guitar

    Criss Olivia: Lead Guitar

    Malcolm Young: Rhythm Guitar

    Jon Lord: Keyboards

    Cliff Burton: Bass Guitar

    Eric Carr: Drums

  6. RIP to Malcolm Young. I know that everybody outside the main rock/metal communities are only aware of Angus' guitar talents and visage when it comes to AC/DC, but people should be aware of the fact that Mal actually taught Angus how to play guitar and if it wasn't for him, there would be no AC/DC. Alzheimers is a horrible disease, I personally wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

  9. You probably think shit like 55Gore is good

    Stop being such an elitist

No dude, an elitist would be like "DREAM THEATER IS FALSE POSER METAL 55GORE 4LIFE"

You know damn well nobody here likes that band and the only reason anyone even knows them is if they stumbled across their ridiculous real name somewhere. You just wanted that metal hipster cred for mentioning them. :LMAO:

It scored no cred with me because I've got no clue who that band is. I mean at least drop a name that you think people might know lol.

They are f***ing terrible, never listen to them.

Didn't plan on it. I did do a quick google search on them though and they don't even have their own wikipedia page. Come on, who doesn't have one of those?

Lets just say that even other grindcore musicians don't like them.

  11. Fraroc, that makes ZERO sense.

I know it doesn't make any sense, that's what makes those elitist arguments so ridiculous.

I mean look here, the other guys in the band do dress in an 80s rock fashion...because it was the 80s! It wasn't like they were dressing overly gaudy like Pretty Boy Floyd or Poison or Asylum-era KISS. But if something just slightly resembles hair metal, metal elitists automatically reject it, and I think that's bullshit.

  12. Seeing comments making fun of his voice or how he looked in the 80s reminds me how much I hate metal elitists.

If someone makes fun of King's voice and look then they are in no way a metal elitist. Metal elitists usually love King.

I dont know man, it does seem very "metal elitist" to dismiss King Diamond because they felt that The Family Ghost was too "hair metal", considering the fact that metal elitists have a notorious hateboner for hair metal.

How the hell is Family Ghost hair metal? Where are you even getting that from?

Apparently a bunch of commenters thought that the outfits that the members of his band in that time period wore were too "Bon jovi" for music like King's. The song itself is so far away from hair metal though.

  14. I honestly thought that he was finally going to announce that LeeLifeson was happening or that he had at least some modicum of interest in doing another solo album or musical project....But no, he's just going to let Neil's retirement dictate his future. Geddy is an amazing person and my personal favorite bassist....but he needs to grow a spine.
