  1. Anything pre 85' I loved right away. ATWAS was my first Rush album then I backtracked and bought the first 4 studio albums. After hearing the incredible live versions it took me a while to appreciate the studio versions of the ATWAS setlist...

  2. My driver has finally woken up again and is now a weapon once again. Of course now I can't get up and down to save my @as lol. Gotta just love this game...smh

My driving has been excellent as of late, which takes a ton of pressure off.

Saturday we played a course in reno called Wolf Run. The course is typical of the newer mountain courses we have out west, long, lots of elevation changes, and exceedingly difficult in the wind. The greens are huge...

We booked a 2:00pm tee time because it was cheap, which meant we were playing in the heat of the day (upper 90's), with 20-30 mph winds. The course is designed so the longest holes go directly into the prevailing wind, and the shorter holes have the tailwind (stupid, in my view). it was a grind all day, but I managed some good par holes, including a sand save, and got a birdie after getting on in two on a par-5 (driver, 5-iron). But on a good chunk of the holes the wind and heat just exhausted me and I made doubles. Ended up shooting 47-47. I actually played better than that, but the course was so dry and hard that what everyone thought would be a perfect shot would hit and roll off. "They've lost the course...", I mocked.

Another view, which shows some of the wetland area that guards a few of the holes...

"They've lost the course" lol. I am on my way back from a 4 day trip to the Pittsburgh area. I played 4 rounds there on 3 different courses. Wow I realized how much I missed elevation change and the different challenges it presents. I found the downhill, uphill etc subtleties of the greens the most difficult to grasp. I also hadn't putted on bent grass in a Coons age. Beautiful, slick surfaces but it really added to the difficulty putting on greens that appeared to have so much optical illusions as far as slopes go...

Where did you play? I live in the Pittsburgh area.

I played at Aubry's Dubbsdread (sp?), Hiland and Lake Arthur in the Butler area...

Those are North of Pittsburgh. I live South of Pittsburgh and have never heard of those courses.

I am not surprised. There are soooo many courses in the Pittsburgh area. Love that style of golf. Up down up down. 270 yard drives downhill and 225 uphill lol...

  5. I hit the most difficult bucket of balls ever today. No bucket will ever match the painful frustration of this one. :rage:

You see, just to my right was a major league hottie, about 40-ish, with a magnificent body and a short, white skirt and tight grey top.

Trying to focus on my swing was futile. I had to keep from getting caught ogling this wonderful work of human art ..... especially since her man was right next to her, and he was twice as big as me......

Along the same lines I will never forget a round of golf I played years ago. It was at Northwest Park in Montgomery Co MD (A very long and tough track). I went out as a single a lot in those days and was paired with the best female golfer I had ever played with. She played the whites same as me (about 6,900 yards). It was hot as blazes and you could cut the humidity with a knife which it often is on a DC area summer day. She wore a short skirt and a sleeveless top with about 3 buttons that were all unbuttoned all day and NO BRA. Every time she bent down to do anything, good grief. I swear they never swayed or moved. Incredibly hot... :codger:

    You: "Can you mark that?"

    Her: "In the fairway?"

  7. I've never heard a bad Rush album but I haven't actually listened to their entire catalogue.

    Welcome to TRF!!!!

    :dweez:

Yep lol. For most of my life I didn't realize they made any albums after 85'...
  8. Played two courses around Frederick Maryland June 9-10.

First course (6058 yds) I shot a 91. Score was inflated due to 2 really bad holes. An 8 on a par 5 and a 6 on a par 3. I Tried to get more distance off the tee and it didn't really work.

Second course (6203 yds) shot an 81. Played my regular swing off the tee and was more accurate. The last 4 holes did me in though.as i had 59 with 4 holes left and went 6-5-6-5. Missed a short putt on 15 and sort of lost my composure for the next 3 holes.

Stupid rain cancelled golf league last night. The only rain we have had for over a week and of course it comes the 3 hours of golf league!

I was born and raised in Maryland and played a ton of courses up there but never played in the Frederick area. I would bet there are some beauties up there...

  9. Another Thursday, and another nauseating 9 holes. A general inability to string together two good swings in a row kept me from hitting greens in reg and on the bogie train through the first seven holes. Par 5 8th I finally get on in regulation and make a horrendous first putt that led to another bogie. The closing hole saw a blocked drive into the rough, an ill-advised duckhooked 5-wood across the fairway into a bunker, a yanked nine-iron behind a tall pine, followed by an attempted flop-shot into said pine.

The ball disappeared high into the heavy branches, refusing to drop out of the tree. My group finished out, and I had thrown in the towel as the following group finished their approach shots. But then...the ball drops out of the tree, I pitch over a greenside bunker and drain a 15-footer for a double bogie.

Apologies but your play by play of your last hole made me chuckle a bit. I took a week off but played the last two days. 78/79. At some point I WILL piece the whole game together and shoot some scores like I used too back in my early 40's when I was younger and healthy. It's coming...
  10. Fowler shoots 84

This one really surprised me. Phil blowing up and some of the others didn't...

Have you read any of the stuff with the pros complaining about the course? They are not pleased with the firm conditions.

Yep. It got away from them once again. I am betting tomorrow will be different. DJ's 18th hole was the perfect example. Two beautifully played shots resulted in an impossible putt. The result, 3 putt bogey...

    Agreed......Chicago are cheesy nonsense.

You never heard the early shit with Terry Kath. Real.
