These are amazing. So thick, they'll never snap. I have about 3 left because I lost all of them, but go and get one if you are a heavy strummer.

  2. At this rate, the whole DVD will be on YouTube by the release date. If anything else goes up, I'm predicting either How It Is (Because they played it for the first time this tour, but it's not entirely worth buying the DVD for) or Cygnus X-1 (Probably the short part after the drum solo to show off the light show). I picked these because everyone wants to see Losing It and 2112 and Xanadu and all that will probably never be released before the DVD because then no one would need to buy the DVD.
  3. I guessed most of you would have seen that one by now but you never know ;)

The Philly ones are great. Thanks! Because I was standing close to the stage during my R40 shows I missed a lot of the effects of the lasershow. Of course I saw it happen from my POV but it's best viewed from across the floor.

Yeah I was the section next to the center ice line up in the nosebleeds. Terrible view for the lasers except for YYZ, but I loved just being there.

  4. I really hope they just have a far shot of the laser lights during some songs, because it's so cool to see that and they always cut it out of most of the other DVDs

    Yes, especially during Jacob's Ladder.

    Have you seen this clip?

Of course I have, hahaha. I found that in my YouTube subscriptions the next day. I was so happy when I saw that and Xanadu from that guy.

BUT have any of you seen these? Oh my goodness, this guy has the most ridiculously good camera ever!

  5. I really hope they release all of the toronto 97 footage. That was a good tour and some good clips. I wonder if they also have some extra stuff from the Vapor Trails tour, and maybe some extra stuff cut out of ESL. If not, well one can dream...

I've heard that Different Stages was discontinued a while back. One of the more knowledgeable people on the Rush Blog said over a year ago, well before we even knew that we were getting 1997 footage last fall, that there was going to be a reissue of DS that would be a CD/DVD. I'll bet that's what they'll do at some point, re-release DS with the full Toronto video as a package. I sure hope they do anyway.

That would be sweet, but I kinda hope they maybe remix the Toronto footage. I think there was a tad bit too much bass. If, not, it won't matter. I would still love it.

  6. If they're not going to play live again there's almost no way they'd make an album. Lots of work and almost no money. And Clockwork Angels is the perfect exit.

But they want to tour and write music, the problem is they are not physically able to go out on the road for that long anymore. Going into the studio and making music isn't that physically demanding, and their fanbase is bigger than ever.

  7. I think they are going to make an album first and then tour it if they are going to tour again, which I hope they do and I don't see why not. Anyways Philly has always been one of the biggest supporters of the band since the 70s, so of course they're gonna sell out there.
  8. Has anyone seen an actual official release date? Still have not see something official from Rush or Rounder etc??

It's quite likely that they'll hold off mentioning it until this Friday which is when the RTB live single's suppose to be released or the day before.

The official release is November 20th. They announced it last weekend.

  9. The preview sounded good but the crowd was dead silent. I know some people like that, but for me a live record should sound like you're there. Basically it sounds like there was a lot of overdubbing. Still, should be a great dvd

You can't hear the crowd during songs on most of their live albums...

I know but it shouldn't sound like it's a studio album. IMO, that's what it sounded like

  10. It would have been cool if he played the classic cowbell pattern from ESL and ATWAS - that was sort of a trademark of his solo for the first 10 years (the golden years?) Seeing as the "El Darko" kit moved the cowbells over where they resided in that era, it would have been cool to hear that. Also missing (again from that era) was the great timbale to concert tom riffing - on R40 he did a bit of timbale work, but nowhere near the cross over stuff he once did. I know Neil is all about progress and moving on - but with the retro theme and the classic kit, it would have been cool to pay homage to some of those details (maybe details only drummers would notice?)

He was using that all the way up until 96. Wish he used it again.

He was playing his cowbells in the solo in 94 & 96 - but not the same rhythm I was talking about. I had to go back to refresh my memory - there's a great bootleg collection called "The Digital Man" which chronicles his solos for every tour. Of course, there are minor differences in a solo over the course of a tour - but the basic sections were pretty much set. The cowbell part I was referring to is the classic one on ATWAS and ESL, where he's riffing on the floor toms and starts with 2 higher pitched bells (dotted 8th note, 16th note), followed by two lower pitched bells (2 8ths). It's a little melody that he created - going back through the years, this was used up to the Counterparts tour. On Cp tour, he played a variation of the melody (2 consecutive 16ths on the high bell, 2 consecutive on the lower bell). On the TFE tour (1996) he played a whole different creation - an ascending riff on the bells (with two upbeat accents at the end of the phase). Anyway, didn't mean to get all technical and picky - but I agree, I wish he used it again (and he could have since the bells on "El Darko" were back on his right, just over the floor toms.) :)

I was wrong about 94. My bad. I should know this, given the fact that I drum in my free time and have an extenive collection of bootlegs. Also oh well, maybe if there is a next tour, he'll do it. One can only hope.

  12. I'm in for vocals and or guitars for any of those. Can you do drums? My wife has been after me for years to do war paint. :-) And I love all the above.

I could do guitars, some keys, and drums. I just finished The Pass and it took me a long time to figure out the keyboard parts in the background, so that's why I said SOME keys, but I'd love to to do it.

  13. I know its the less popular stuff but I've been listening to a lot of mid 80's to late 90's rush, and I'd love to do a cover of something like Lock And Key, War Paint, Mystic Rhythms, Driven, Cold Fire, any of the lesser-known stuff, if anyone wants to. Of course, if not I'm always up for some older stuff too
