Every once in a blue moon I see one on Reverb. At least there you can follow the listings and set an alert. So far I haven't been able to get one but on the flip side I got two Epi Les Pauls with Floyds that I basically tore down and rebuilt with USA parts to come as close as I could. Those are more common and I think theres a honeyburst for sale right now

Awesome thread so far, hopefully we can culminate all the various thread info to one place. I believe that the Gibson-like feel refers to both radius and shape of the shark necks, seeing as that I really doubt Shark or any companies would try to serve the extremely niche market of Gibson scale fender replacement necks. The Mirror Strat kept the stock fender Trem through the GUP tour believe it or not, and I believe that and the Black one switched from Gibson PAF to the L500L AFTER the Signals tour. There is pictures of the Black Strat on the Signals tour with the PAF. So After that tour he got the L500L in those two plus switched the Hentor single coils to white and used the Hentor to open shows and mainly relied on the Porkflapsocaster for the bulk of shows. Not sure what he used the Mirror Strat. for, maybe alt tunings like Between the Wheels or something like that. For the Power Windows tour he still was using the Black Strat and as far as we can tell used the Hentor for The Big Money and the mirror Strat as a backup of some sort. He also had a Strat elite that had the weird covered single coils and push in pickup toggle switches which I think he used either for The Big Money or possibly as a backup for his Tele? Maybe? I know he used the tele for New World Man and Manhattan Project but I digress. As far as recording stuff goes I have no idea besides Show Don't Tell.
Last important note is that the switching isn't confirmed to be identical on all 3 so we know the Hentor is Neck. Neck/Mid, Bridge and uses a Gibson L style 6 (or 7) pin 3 way switch. Not sure if the other 2 are the same or not, and if that made a difference.

I took a regular mexican strat and did the work myself. The routing for the toggle switch is dangerous because you chip the paint off obviously. I didn't put in a Floyd because that's more advanced work than I am capable of doing. Honestly it's a pretty easy project.I emailed Freddy a while ago with no response. I emailed again today because I have the itch for a Hentor. Ive been trying to figure out if I were to work on one of these if it would be worth the trouble or get an HSS Strat w a Floyd Rose in it preinstalled swap pups and call it a day. Im an authentic kind of guy though so the easy route may not sound good though

Do it man. I own a Steinberger GM4T guitar and love it. They're so easy to play and sound great.I may have the opportunity to purchase the white Steinberger that was mentioned in another thread. This is a total-midlife crisis moment for me. I know they're not the best sounding instruments, but it's my "Eleanor". It was untouchable as a snot-nosed teenager, and by the time I started making real gig money in the 90's they were no longer in production. The Rick or Wal or Jazz bass never had the same effect on me. I haven't heard back on the asking price, but if it's under $1800, I'll be selling the Geddy Jazz and scrounging up the rest...

I'm no expert by any means, but my theory is that you should do whtever you need to do to make everythig feel right. By any means neccessary. With drumming, if that means you gotta weld some stuff together or rip some stuff apart, do it. It's really unconventional to go that far, but if it works, who cares, right?

At the moment, I'm in a guitar building syndroms. It's pretty much the same thing but all I wanna do right now is build more guitars, even though I know that if I build another one, I'm not gonna play it that much

In addition to what's above, I think a really useful thing is listen to all of the songs constantly. Not only can you then hear what needs to be improved, but as you go along, you can pick out the songs that stand the test of time. The songs that you like to hear the most are the ones that your audience will like to hear the most.

It was their party song. It was the song they wrote that was kind of the perfect closer. It made you get up and dance and have fun one last time before they left. Plus when they started adding in the jams and stuff later on, it was a great way to end the night. You could tell in videos they loved it every time.

Anyone have a patch or something that's really close to the dirty sound Alex had during the Hold Your Fire tour? Was just listening to A Show of Hands and I love the guitar tone. I would prefer the tour sound over the album but I'll take what I can get. So anyone have anything close?

I've bought a doubleneck kit on ebay before. Make sure to replace most, if not all the electronics. They're buzzy and suck. Sand it well which will take a while. Take your time. I didn't and hate the way it turned out. Absolutely replace the machine heads and sand down the fret edges too. Otherwise, it's usable and reasonable for the price. If you plan to use it a ton then just save up for an epiphone doubleneck because it'll be way better quality.

Just got my Floyd Rose Original 1984 Reissue in the mail. Man, it's already top notch. The block is solid brass and it weighs a TON. I have a Special in my Epi Les Paul Pro/fx which is surprisingly good quality for around $100. The weight difference is kind-of crazy.

Do most of you guys prefer pedalboards over processing units? I wanted to make a pedalboard rig with actual amps, but I found the processing units are more efficient. Still, it seems like the majority of you guys get the actual pedals.

I got another one. It's not live, but when I drum, my edrums are always being triggered. They're so sensitive. I always forget to mute them when I don't need them. If I was playing live, that wouldn't be a major thing but would be quite annoying. Also going with the stepping on cables thing, I do that a lot too.

I have an amp switcher for clean parts of songs and if I wanna throw a clean layer on top of a dirt sound. The catch is that if the pickups aren't split on my guitar, it sounds really bad and the clean amp comes in way too loud. I forget to slpit the pickups sometimes. Also with the switcher, I can't tell which channel it's on when I double it up so if I forget what channel it was set to before I double it up I may accidentally switch to the wrong channel.

There's trade-offs with both going to a teacher or doing it yourself. I started when I was around 7. Since then most of my time is spent playing guitar. I went at my own pace and learned everything my own way, and doing it yourself definitely helps you create your own stle of playing that's unique to you. The downside is I don't know a lot of "fancy" chords, basically those really complex ones that take all of your fingers and they're just weird.
With a teacher, you may learn those chords, but you'll be learning their style. You're essentially copying the teacher. You'll learn more and probably faster with a teacher, but you won't get that style thing I keep talking about. Then again, for some people, that doesn't matter one bit. It really depends on what you want.

I think it also depends on the size of your hands. If you have short fingers, play guitar. Long fingers, bass. Then again, I have some long fingers but I am awful at bass.

I'm the person who has acquired Alex's Signature Aurora and am resurrecting the Signature Guitar Co. Website, as I've acquired the Domain "Signatureguitarco.com" & "Signatureguitarco.ca". I'm looking to get any photo's of any memorabilia, period photos' from the factory or members stories and photos' of their Signature Guitars, to add to the owner registry and photo gallery. Any help would be appreciated! PS: I have Russ Heinl's permission and input for this. It would be a great way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the company that was founded in 1987. Cheers!

I'm gonna do a gear tour/demo with all the new stuff I got. I just got a beautiful Epiphone Les Paul Plustop Pro FX and I'm really happy with my rig right now. I finally got everything to sound the way I want it to.

According to the Time Stand Still doc, they play a quite weird and unsettling version of Subdivisions. I like it. Should be on their next album.

It's from the Auburn Hills show during the Presto tour in 1990. I don't know what gen VHS is widely spread, but it's not a first gen tape. The Time Stand Still DVD came with the real pro-shot footage from that night as bonus material. The VHS tape is the full show and they're exactly the same source, but the VHS is far worse quality.Hey guys, I went to see the theatrical release of the Time Stand Still documentary and there was a scene a little bit later in the documentary where they made a montage type of thing with Red Barchetta. They started out with the R40 version and right before the part where Geddy's voice gets rough... you know the "he said it used to be a farm" part... they switch over to footage from one of those pro-shot shows from the early 90's. Does anybody know where I can find just that clip online?

What presets do you use?Having said that I once mixed a headphone unit with presets on my Digitech Gsp1101 and results were very close.

Thought I'd pitch in my two cents. I built a copy of the red strat with Hentor specs a few years ago. Body and neck unfinished including having a luthier cut out the horn cavity ran me probably close to $1000. To add to that, thanks to Warmoth and their options, I was able to get a full floyd rose mount and get a EVH neck profile, LSR nut cut, and a allen screw adjuster for the truss rod near the neck pocket. Essentially, I get the specs I wanted while remaining faithful to the original guitar sonically. I think if you're gonna spend THAT kind of money on a guitar, don't waste it on something you can easily put together yourself for so much less. As much as I'd love to have one, when I heard the price I was turned off to it.
