I can't answer the question, as I've never underrated any songs from Hold Your Fire.
But in the court of public opinion, I could name about seven or eight of them to the jury for consideration. ;)
I'm sitting here studying this thread wondering how to answer it when this appeared, problem solved.

By no means was Vapor Trails one of the worst records ever made. From a production/mixing standpoint - yes, it is one of the loudest and least dynamic ever made, but they corrected that with the Remixed version. There is still some really fine songwriting on that album, and for me it is a time relic that embodies everything the band felt about Neil's return. It is perhaps the most unique Rush album in that respect.
It's not one of the worst albums ever made in the world. It is by far the worst RUSH record ever made. "Test For Echo" blows it away. JMO
Test For Echo is frustrating though because to me the songs are half or part good. The result is a bland and uninspired Rush effort. Definitely my least favorite Rush album.
I totally agree.
So let's take "Time And Motion" for instance. I fuckking love that driving guitar riff but then that pathetic keyboard part comes in. KILLS IT.
HALF THE TEST OF ECHO IS GOOD HALF THE TEST FOR ECHO IS BAD!
Half The World drives me fuckking bonkers.
Talk about redundant.
That song is worse than anything AC/DC has done with Brian Johnson.
OUCH! Back In Black is equal to anything AC/DC has done before or after.
At the time of "BIB's" release it was epic.
However for my ears today I can barely get through it.
It's like listening to "Tom Sawyer" ten times in a row.
Anything with Bon on it blows away "BIB!"
I would rather watch a toddler throw up into BIB than listen to "Black In Back."
Not a typo

Definitely got emotional during that one. Dinklage was sitting a few seats away from me during the 2nd set. I gave him a thumbs up and he mouthed "thank you". I would imagine is was pretty emotional for him as well.
Awesome post, make's my spine tingle.

Oh yeah, he's no Peart, he's in a different league entirely (sorry Neil). Of course, Neil is the only drummer for Rush, he could never be replaced!
With DC on drums, I might prefer that to regular Rush! Haha!I predict Alex and Geddy will start up a new local tavern band called "Blah"
How about Blush.
Danny Carey on drums
Turn in your Rush card now. DC's got chops, but he's no Peart. Style wise I don't think he would fit the band. Moot point anyway. Alex and Ged would never replace Neil.
This is the one of the best responses I've seen to "comparisons" of musicians.

I know Gary didn't write the song but I love his version.
Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, maybe a soldier?
Come tomorrow, will I be bolder than today?

PRIMUS SUCKS!!
Signed,
"TOMMY THE CAT"
Primus opened for Rush on the "Roll The Bones" Tour.
Everyone knows that!
I prefer Steve Morse opening for Power Windows
Holy Shit! Were you at the Cow Palace for that one like me? I missed most of it thanks to my buddy having a fukking pony keg in the back of his CRX.
I also loved Gary Moore for GUP! Cow Palace too!
I would have killed to see Gary, but alas that can't happen now.

We are the men

Roll us to the stage
Where we'll give our all
We are the men

So I wasn't going to share this but fuckk it. I got back safe from LA so now I am on my good old trustworthy Apple!
So as the Rush dork that I am I decided to play every Rush album from "Test For Echo" to "RUSH." The only live albums I had active were "ASOH" and "ATWAS."
It was on my iPod which was connected into my Audi Media Center. Not a fan as I am still a cd guy.
So anyway by the time I got down to the Grapevine on the Interstate 5 I started to notice some serious ominous dark cloud systems.
It looked ugly and gray. From a faint distance I could see rain shrouding the barren landscape.
Shit I can write like Neil! LOL!!
So by the time I was ascending into the wicked wet weather "A Show Of Hands" was playing.
As I made my way to the darkness "Marathon" was playing.
I swear to God you must believe me. I don't bullshit.
I saw my first lightning strike and the lyric "Like a streak of lightning that flashes and fades in the summer sky" was sung by Geddy.
I freaked out yet remained cool.
As I continued to go into the mountainous incline "Force Ten" kicked in. As I stared into the skies pouring above there was an opening within the clouds above. It truly looked like the "eye of the storm." I was like blown away. Pun intended.
I kept getting these flash flood warnings on my phone while I was going through the Grapevine. It was bizarre to be honest.
As I was driving in the far left lane I saw a small gray car far right. The vehicle flew off the road into a ditch.
I was actually a bit nervous driving through this insane rain in the middle or tail end of summer.
Never done this before.
Anyway to "CUT TO THE CHASE" for some reason after "A Show Of Hands" was over the next Rush album was "Presto."
I swear to God or to whoever once "Chain Lightning" came on the sky lit up like in a fukking freaking "Frankenstein" film!!
Guys I was totally in awe. Chain lightning was going off all around me while the song was playing.
It was a trip man!! What are the odds?
Once I made it through the Grapevine and started to descend into the Valencia area the sky was blue and the temperature was back up to 100.
Inside the Grapevine the temperature dropped to 78 degrees.
It was a wild experience.
So was last night seeing the greatest band in the world end their existence. Or perhaps not!
Hey I will tell you all who waste their time reading this shit.
My buddy got into the after party last night.
Perhaps this is old news but the Foo Fighters were there. Paul Rudd. Chad Smith. Stewart Fukking Copeland. Terry Brown!
So hey I guess Neil and Stewart are friends after all eh?????
I am sure you real fans remember the story of Stewart Copeland coming up to Neil back in the Eighties and Neil totally blew him off!
Urban Legend or FACT?
Who knows!!!
RUSH RULES FORFUKKINGEVER!!!
ALL POSERS NEED TO EXIT STAGE LEFT!!
I'm totally connected to Mother Nature and RUSH!
Some say that I'm "Losing It" I say fuckk that!!!
I know what I love and I love what I know.
I'm not on drugs while writing this.
RUSH IS MY DRUG!!!!
CHEERS!

Chemistry is a GREAT track! So is Countdown. Wish they'd have rehearsed one of those over Losing It.

Losing It is overrated because you are so young.
The song is perfect for this tour.
The song is perfect I agree. I was mainly referring to Chemistry in place of the divisions of the suburbs. Countdown may be the only song I'd actually want to see more than Losing It.
Lit up with anticipation.

Permanent Waves vs Moving Pictures
in Feedback
Posted
Okay here we go. Moving Pictures is more epic, although Permanent Waves is higher for listening. For most Rush fan's I think it's a matter of overexposure of some of the MP hits that causes this.
For the record I love Witch Hunt and never tire of listening to it.
