Yeah I saw this news I'll be buying both and you better believe it!
:haz: :haz: :haz:
Thank you for showing me this band. I'm not sure how I could of overlooked them for the last 10 years.
Have you heard all their stuff now? Bought many of their albums?
I own Under The Influence, The Electric Age, White Devil Armory, and Iron Bound. I've also heard a few other albums through Youtube. I'm working on owning their discography. If I can find the HistoriKill box set for cheap, I'll pick that up next.

I'm 20 pts out of 4th. Not bad for missing Daytona, and then having my next two drivers wreck in the last 20 laps.

http://www.seymourdu...ti-neck-guitarsCause the doublenecks are ROCK AND ROLL!
What's that about Alex having an accident with his Gibson? I haven't heard about that before.
In one of the tour books, possibly GUP, he says that an elephant sat on his doubleneck and broke it.

I remember back in 1994 (I think?) ELP played in Thunder Bay, Ontario... that's right, I said, THUNDER ABY, ONTARIO, in a theatre that holds 1500. I couldn't believe it... ELP in a small northern Canadian city? I was fourth in line to buy tickets a month or two before the show day. At the show I was shocked that there were only about 800 people there. They were incredible... Carl's drum solo was so good, I had a hard time even knowing what he was doing and I've been playing drums all my life.
Carl's drum solo is still great.
By the way, He turns 65 tomorrow....
WOW. That was amazing.

Hard to say. As mostly a fan of older music, I get the sentiment, but bands like Five Finger Death Punch are pretty popular. It's absolute shit to me, but someone likes it (sorry if I offended any 5FDP fans here, I'll buy you a chain wallet). Thankfully there's still a lot of lesser known bands making good music and touring to keep it alive for me. New stuff like Baroness and new stuff that sounds like old stuff...like the excellently named Space Vacation!
I'll take that chain wallet.

I did the same thing last night. Went back and listened to the first disc again. Turns out I knew most of the words, and got more enjoyment out of it, than I ever did in the first two weeks it was out. Still haven't put any effort into the second disc.

The first half of Astonishing is good, the second disc is blah, my vote goes to 2112.

What a finish. This is an amazing season so far.

I don't think I even need to wait for qualifying. Phoenix? I'm going 4.
Can I please get points for Kenseth for last week?
You did. You had 17 from Newman in week 2 and 5 from Kenseth in week 2 for a total of 22.
Ok, I was reading the standings wrong.

With the passing of Keith Emerson, I have gone back into a bit of a prog kick. I just listened to Thick As A Brick and it is beautiful. Where do I go from here with Jethro Tull?

What the hell is going on this year??
The Classic Rock Era is coming to an end. The greatest musicians of our generation are retiring.....or dying.
The Circle Of Life continues, whether we like it or not.
LONG LIVE ROCK!! :haz: :haz: :haz:
"Long Live Rock?" Yeah, right...
More like RIP Rock.
Are you ever not a drama queen?
I don't think it's excess drama. The majority of first generation rock band members were born during, or right after, WWII. David Bowie-1947 , Lemmy- 1945, Keith Richards- 1943, Ray Davies- 1943, Paul McCartney-1942, etc etc, which puts a lot of them around 70 or a little older. The life span for an average man in developed countries is about 80, but there was some famous study a few years ago (can't find it now! :) ) that the rock touring lifestyle takes about 10 years away from the average rockers life. :( :(
The music goes on, but something is lost when the original people start disappearing.
Yes, the music goes on and will go on, but these men are irreplaceable and belong to a time and place that comes only once. It may come again, but it won't be the same.
These men, and the bands they belonged to, we owe so very much to. I'm so very grateful that I was alive when these bands first came on the scene and to have known first-hand the impact many of them made with their unique sound and music.
When someone posted in the Random section a list of rockers over seventy, I made the remark that we should steel ourselves because they would start dying one after the other. Shortly after that remark, they started dying. I don't mean to be a downer, but honestly - we have to be prepared for more of these deaths.
I agree with you, Chica - something about being a famous musician that whittles away the years. Maybe it's the constant draining of their reservoir of creativity that shortens their life. Maybe it's the touring and lifestyle.
So it's your fault all of these famous musicians are dying.

Maybe someone can explain how the RnR hall works. Why exactly would Rush or any other artist who's been inducted, not have a display of some kind up in the hall?
Every artist from the current class did have a display set up. In the main hall, it is pretty much the first thing you come to (the section of the current class). So, I guess it is set up for a year and then gets put down for the next year's class.
Pretty much everything in there is donated (and the displays mention who it is who graciously loaned the item. For instance, one of the Jimi Hendrix strats is in there courtesy of John Mayer) and rotates around as people bring stuff in and out.
Unfortunately, there is only so much room to display stuff, and they chose to display stuff from plenty of pop/non-rock commercial acts as opposed to the true legends of rock and roll.
Who's in the pic in your sig?

How did I miss the release of this? I need to check this out asap.
