Disagree with the OP! On the other hand, if you haven't liked the last several albums, chances are you won't like this one...
One more thing- if you think Rush albums have "sucked" since Signals (30 years of "sucking"), why in the name of all that's holy would you still be listening to their music in hope of a "comeback"!? Stop wasting your time!

I absolutely agree with the OP- great new "modern" Rush album with almost all killer tracks- it certainly surpassed my expectations! I've seen a fair share of comments about the mix (as per usual), but if you look at comments all over the interweb comparing the many remastered versions of the older albums, you don't see a general consensus on which is the better mix. It just shows me that unless you are talking about an album like VT with obvious sound issues, folks are always going to have different ideas about the mix.

QUOTE (rcsrich @ Jun 15 2012, 03:05 PM) Love this song! I think it is my favorite, but a tough call to make. I have to say though that I'm hearing what sounds like an edit in the vocal at about 5:58, right at the word "been". maybe a splice between vocal takes? Just curious if anyone else is hearing this or if it's my MP3 copy (via Amazon). Okay- I am apparently crazy. I've got a set of Grado headphones headed my way from Amazon & will listen again...
BTW, the album is brilliant. It's no mean feat to generate something original and quality after almost 4 decades.

Not the most eloquent way of putting it, but a point well made! If a recording is entirely in the digital domain up until mastering for the LP, you're kinda getting a "softened" analog version of the digital. I treasure my purely analog recordings on LP, but miss the point of many modern LP releases, unless they were recorded on all analog equipment. In my experience, it also take pretty pricey equipment to make an LP sound as good as it should.
But, I say whatever makes your ears happy- in the end, you're the one listening!
