  1. Segue, what do you think of Geddy's solo album?

Victor and My Favourite Headache...are they worth checking out?

My Favorite Headache is really awesome, if you enjoy Geddy's vocals, especially. But Victor is just....bleeeeh.

  2. Anyone else notice that when they edited Tom Sawyer that they have a shot of Geddy playing his sunburst jazz bass for about 3 seconds and then he's back to the black one? No excuse to let that slip through.

I noticed that in the DVD linear notes that it states that they filmed in Dallas, Phoenix **AND** San Antonio. The San Antonio show was the very next night after Dallas. I was at that show, and there was no mention at that time that they would be filming, but I remember security making very clear that NO ONE was allowed to bring a camera into the venue.

My guess is they filmed in San Antonio to "clean up" any rough spots, and in this case, a rough spot had to be cleaned up when Ged used a different guitar.

    Just a thought.

    Clem

But I'm surprised they just didn't use another shot, of something else. Seems like a major flub since it's an obvious thing.

If you think using 5 seconds of a clip from a different show on the same song is a major flub, I don't think anything would satisfy you.

That's an odd comment. What is that supposed to mean? It throws off the continuity, and visually it's very obvious.

Not really that big of a deal, is what I'm saying.

  4. I've been listening to the Pandora and Spotify version of the tour (DVD will be tomorrow). Honestly, I don't see why people are flipping a lid. It sounds fine. The bass and drums can be A LITTLE bit quiet at some points but other than that, I can hear/distinguish everything. I think people here get hyped up over Rush products so much that they expect perfection but don't receive it.

It, honestly, sounds like a pretty raw mix, as well. Isn't that exactly what everyone has been wanting?

I posted these before I saw that people were flipping out about the mix. I thought the mix was an improvement...not too bass heavy as it often is, and Neil is brought up a little bit more than on the TM tour. I like it. But then again, I'm a guitar guy.

I'm a bass guy, who listens to everything. And that everything is there.

  6. O my days! I just found Hold Your Fire for a quid on vinyl in a charity shop! Woooop! Good quality too!

I am not sure how much a quid is, but you may have gotten screwed.............. I guess it's worth having since it was for charity........ ;)

    That is really cheap.

  7. It's, already, been 2 months since you've been gone. We shared so many similarities and obsessions throughout the 15 years we were brothers. This was your favorite song from the group we both loved and talked about constantly. Hearing it live with such a raw power and incredible 8-piece string section only makes me miss you more and wish we could experience this together. I'm still missing your far out sense of humor and incredibly strong and deep conversations we would have. You were a smart kid. You and your friends loved you so much. I miss you, little buddy. You were taken away from us far too soon.

    RIP Luke

Not sure how I missed this the first time, but man – this had me pretty choked up. I’ve experienced some pretty significant loss recently myself and really feel your pain. It’s visceral

A beautiful tribute. My sincere condolences.

Don't worry about it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I haven't received so much condolence before. I appreciate this forum and love you all.

  8. "Heeeelp me. Heeeeelp me."

I hope it's still there... I don't have the CD yet...

It is! They fade it out pretty quickly, though, half way through the first "help me".

  9. I loved the camera shots and didn't find the editing as problematic as on other Rush DVDs. Lots of long cuts with a moving camera...I'm not sure what you guys are seeing. This looked amazing to me.

RIR has a ton more jarring cuts to it IIRC.

Yes, indeed it does! In my opinion, RIR is the worst of the worst of Rush videos. Though it does have that cool special feature of the individual member cam. Now, that's something I hope they do for this release!

2112 is a great example of shots going spazzy all over for Rush in Rio. And YYZ.
