3 for 3!
Me, too! Now, UCONN needs to win.I'm 2 for 2. I think this means I'm tied for first nationally.
They're trying to choke it away. From 13 to 3 in about a minute.
-
Why didn't you pick Indiana to win?

Hey, I got 1 game right! Duke outlasts UnCarolina-Wilmington.

OK, dude, that's a low blow. At least the Cyclones give effort in football. Really, that's all you can ask of the kids. Kansas' players don't even try.
South Dakota State. They trashed Kansas in football earlier this year, too.
Right on!5:30 Eastern. Who'll be watching?
If I'm home, oh hell yes! :haz:
I'll start up another TRF March Madness bracket contest after everything's in.
This is, as an adult with the kid out of the house, another day that's better than Christmas.
My parents get me for a week, we just went out for spring break. Will probably be in KC for half of it to apartment hunt, though. Damn, March Madness has got me excited :haz:
You want to have a "pre selection" contest for who Kansas will lose to this year?
After the bracket's laid out, that sounds kind of fun, actually.
Nah, that's too easy. How about Cal?
Hell, the TRF all stars could have beaten Kansas in football. After all, Iowa State did.
-
South Dakota State is my Cinderella team, making it to the final four, only to lose to Duke, who loses to Indiana in the final. Indiana beats Sparty in the final four. Sorry Bowl City, I got the Cyclones losing in the elite 8.
That first bracket was my "I'm not picking the teams I hate bracket." I blocked against teams I hate, such as NC, Miami, Cal, Southern Cal, etc.
-
Carolina played like crap at the end of the year and we didn't make the tournament. The committee did a great job of looking past our patsy OOC schedule and noticing our bad losses and frequent loses near the end.

Who do y'all think will be the number 1 seeds in the men's tournament? Kansas, North Carolina,Michigan State, and Villanova?
-
South Carolina got a damned double bye in the SEC tourney and proceeded to blow the lead and lose to arch rival Georgia for the 3rd time this season.
We've slid from a 5 seed down to "last 4 in" and ,honestly, I'm not sure if we deserve to be in the tournament, the way we finished. Too many loses to mediocre teams in a mediocre conference.
My hopes are with the Lady Gamecocks, who should really be called the Wet Hens, who will be a number 1 seed, probably#2, overall seed.
-
I didn't realize you were that old. Lol
In a minor conference, where the sole bid is on the line, the conference tournament is a big deal. For the powerhouses, not so much. They're basically jockeying for seeding. There can be a bit of drama in that mid-performing teams in power conferences can occasionally play spoiler.Congratulations to IU. Perfect record at Assembly Hall. The fans have a lot to be proud of with this squad.
If we catch these guys in the tournament, we would lose by 30.
Good luck in the B1G tournament.
Maybe it's different in other major conferences but in the Big Ten the regular season championship is considered bigger and more important than the conference tournament. I echo nap's call for no injuries. Looks like we have to face Purdue in the semis. I expect a loss there, with Rojo out and hopefully Morgan getting some rest for the shoulder.
I think IU will get a 3, maybe a 4, though possibly a 2 is within reach if we win the tournament. IU is 11-17 all time so the historical record is against us.
Even beyond that though, and maybe this goes back to the days when there was only one team per conference that would go, the ACC tournament has always been bigger than the regular season whereas with the Big Ten it was always the regular season that seemed bigger.
I remember back in about 1974 when the eventual champion Wolfpack had to win a 103-100 3OTgame vs Maryland in the ACC final just to make the NCAAs where they interrupted the UCLA dynasty for a year. Maryland may have been the second best team that year and didn't even make the tournament.

Indiana is the shiznitt. Popping 3s left and right. Ended half on 23-6 run. 41-28 lead Hoosiers.
- 2
-
IU getting their stuff together, playing better defense, popping 3s, and they have the lead.

-
IU with back to back 3s. The arena is going nuts!

Indiana can't seem to get started here early vs. Maryland. 1-5 FG and Maryland with 10-2 lead

Before I get into my answers, you need to understand my background: I grew up in an ultra-conservative, backwoods, Pentacostal Holiness, small town in the middle of the poorest region of South Carolina, next to Savannah River DOE site, during the middle of the cold war. It was a protected and structured white trash environment. Rush, like all rock n roll, was considered "the devil's music", and, as such, we were forbidden to listen. The only rock n roll we were exposed to was when we got cable TV in the late 80s/early 90s and we'd watch MTV when dad was at work, but only then. When I graduated high school and started working a night job I discovered the classic rock n roll stations. I heard all of the classic hits, and loved most of them, but I just ass-u-me d the Rush, and all the great bands, were dead, and we didn't have the internet, yet, so I simply didn't know. My best friend, at work, was into industrial and heavy metal, so that is the music that I ended up buying.
It wasn't until just a few years ago that I was out walking and I discovered the app "Slacker Radio" on my smartphone. It played "subdivisions" and it rocked my world. Then I started listening to more Rush songs and looking up the lyrics online and I was hooked. "Clockwork Angels" means more to me than "2112" because it is my life story. But, I love 2112, because I'm an Ayn Rand fan, and I've read both of her epic novels, "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged", plus many smaller novels and pamphlets.
So, to review: newer fan: 2112 not a major role in my fanhood: I love the lyrics and symbols in 2112, way more than the music.

I'm the type of fan that doesn't focus on non conference games in sports. I weigh conference records, more, and our losses, generally, in conference, have been: late in the season, and to the teams with the worst records. We need to win the last game and make the finals in the SEC tourney.Well, we just got swept by Jawja, and it happened on Senior night.
We have run out of gas.
We will flounder in the SEC tourney and NOT make the big dance.
We had such a great season going.
Yeah, you guys are floundering right now. Too bad. Your record is still gaudy but the advanced metrics and momentum are working against you.
Last night was pitiful: Taking unopen threes early in the shot clock and not working the ball inside.

I watched the 2nd episode. It was OK. I think I'll continue with the series, for now.

That's WHY they did away with the computers. They WANT the human bias. That keeps non traditional teams OUT.Interestingly, Michigan State at #17 and Ohio State at #3. OSU should have been picked over them. Head-to-head is wildly over-rated if you are looking at the "body of work". Actually, I believe they should have kept the BCS selection procedure. The problem wasn't which teams were selected, the problem was they only selected two teams. The computer ranking strips away all the human bias that we all have.
-
After big wins against two hated orange teams (Florida and Tennessee), my beloved Roosters fall to Mississippi State on the road in Starkville, by 10. 6 conference losses, and now we've fallen to 3rd place in the conference. Hopefully, we can still make the big dance.

I guess this ends today, but I just bought my nieces two video games for the price of one @ the store that is synonymous with a dartboard. I think it's for PS4, PS3, and xbox. I also think they have to be UBISOFT game. I didn't want to spam or violate the rules by stating the name of the store, but it's a pretty damned good deal for the kids.
