  1. Evening, all,

I came across this thread a few weeks ago while trying to brainstorm ideas for new vanity plates. Thought I'd share what I settled on for my new Jeep. Clearly, someone already had the version with the "S", so this was the best I could do. Still, pretty happy with it...

  2. I have a pair of plugs like these: http://amzn.to/17vtKwp. I actually forgot them when I went to the Clockwork Angels show in DC a couple of years ago, so I stopped at Target and got some standard foam plugs. I had floor seats, and I will say that after a song or two getting used to them, the plugs made things sound a whole lot better.

I've since been to a few local shows and have used the Sonic Defenders. They definitely sound better than the foam plugs, and they're adjustable (if they're too quiet, you can remove the inner cylinder to allow more sound in).

I've played in bands and have been going to loud rock shows for 25 years, and as I sit here typing this, my chronic tinnitus is loudly reminding me that I really should have started wearing ear protection long before my late 30s.

  3. I was looking at the seating charts for the Toronto shows on TM and noticed something odd. On night 1, the floor seats start at row 1. But on night 2, the floor seats start at row 3. Any guesses why they might have removed rows 1 and 2 for the second show? Personally, I hope they have, b/c I've got 7th row seats, which would hopefully make them closer if 1 and 2 are gone :) My guess, tho, is that if they're filming the show, they'll need the extra space for the camera crew.
  4. well, it's moot. as most others found, VIP was unavailable about a second after tickets went on sale. i opted for the regular presale instead and scored 7th row, geddy side, for the 2nd toronto show. i got two 19th row tickets first, but kept clicking til i found something better. they're way off to the side, but still. it's going to be an awesome trip!
  5. I'm really on the fence here. I'm trying to get tickets for Toronto, and will be flying up from VA for the show (it's my 40th b'day too!). I want great seats, so I'm willing to pay for VIP. But if something happens and we have to cancel the trip, am I going to eat the $800+ for the tickets? If that's the case, I'm tempted to just roll the dice with regular tickets and see if I can luck into something good.

Of course, my gut says to just get VIP and make sure the trip happens, come hell or high water.

  6. i was sitting a few rows behind "that guy" in DC. he was pounding beers the whole show. at first he seemed to just be really excited. but pretty soon he was screaming the lyrics of every song, fist-pumping, punching the air, violently hugging his buddy he was sitting next to (that guy looked mortified). as the concert went on, any time someone around him asked him to cool it, he got super aggro. on his way back from the Nth beer run, he got into it with a guy at the end of his row. later on, he almost threw hands with the guy sitting in front of me who'd had enough of his B.S. one older guy went over and complained to security during the intermission, but they didn't do squat. fortunately, i was wearing ear plugs, which did a fantastic job of blocking out the extraneous noise directly around me and let me actually hear the show.
  7. i emailed jiffy lube live in DC and asked them. they told me to contact Rush's press manager. i emailed her and the response i got was that you can only bring a DSLR if you get a press credential.

i found this site which has some more info on credentials. http://www.nppa.org/professional_developme...redentials.html. i suppose you could represent yourself as a freelancer and see how far that gets you. although i do know from a photography class i took a few years ago that press credentials are not "all access" passes. if you've got lawn seats and want close-up pics, you'd best get a long lens.

  8. Woohoo! Just managed to get a floor seat to the DC show (row V, but still). As such, I have an extra ticket from the Monday presale available. Sect 102 Row L Seat 1 (aisle seat on Geddy's side).

Just looking to get my money back. No markup. PM me if interested or email cville4sale@gmail.com.

  9. i got section 102, row L, seat 1. i'm debating whether to keep trying for floor seats. i see orch 3 row R is available, but i'd prefer something on geddy's side. either way, i'm psyched. haven't seen Rush since R30 in VA Beach.
