-I like every one of rush's songs and could listen to anyone of them, but i think im going bald is my least favorite rush song. i can listen to it, but its not so stellar.
-i feel the criticism on dog years is harsh, considering people call rush "too serious" of a band and they have little humor. Dog years has fun lyrics, & i thoroughly enjoy it
-Power Windows is my favorite album (and HYF isn't very far behind)
-Virtuality is a badass song
-TFE is a very underrated album IMO
-Moving Pictures is FAR from their best album
-Rush is a good album, but its still my least favorite
-
maybe not my number 1 favorite band (they go back and forth), but definitely the most talented group ive listened to

I didn't say anything about loving it, but you have to appreciate it. Just because it is not your preferred style of music doesn't mean that you can bash it and give it no credit as an album

Totem
I actually really like Dog Years and Virtuality. Musically speaking, they're both really energetic and interesting, and I don't find the lyrics as appalling as others seem to. Plus, there's a complete absence of any truly horrible songs. I'd rate it a 6.5/10. Just slightly less enjoyable than Counterparts, but a solid effort.I agree with the categories where the songs fit into (great/good/okay) except that i would include totem in the great category, and im on the edge for putting time & motion in that category as well
I also agree with ur little bit on virtuality and dog years, & that this album has a lack of any truly bad songs. i don't see why people are so hateful towards it(especially dog years).
only thing id change is the rating of the album, which id put at an 8.5, because everytime i listen to the album i thoroughly enjoy it. No complaints when listening to the album, another great ass rush record.

They're not Rush albums. Only half of Hold Your Fire is rock music, some of which isn't even good rock.
No, those people are either:
a) Old
Stuck in the past
c) Don't have the ability to appreciate diverse musical styles
d) All of the above
I am neither old nor stuck in the past. But when I want to listen to Rush.... I want to
If I wanted to mellow out I'll listen to ABBA and Neil Diamond
If you cannot jam to any one of the rush albums, then youre not fully appreciating their talent and diversity.
How big of a fan can a person even be if they can't appreciate the different styles of rush?
I just don't get it, every one of rush albums is exceptional and they have their own styles. That being said people that don't like the synth rush or the newer rush albums or whatever they don't like cant' fully appreciate the "rush" genre, which has gone in many different directions at different points in their career, but has shined brilliantly throughout their whole career.

Overall amazing album, with the top 3(in my opinion) being: The Pass, Available light, & Presto (no order)
then
Great songs: War paint, Scars, chain lightning, show don't tell, anagram (for mongo)
good: Superconductor, red tide, hand over fist
overall: 9

Let me start off by saying I like most of your reviews thus far
but that last review, reading each individual song review was like a knife to the gut, same with power windows. I don't understand what everyone's problem is with the synth albums
Unpopular opinions you have about RUSH

You say "even' as if there's some consensus among Rush fans that those songs suck. I'll be the one to say it... any Rush fan who doesn't like those songs is a fizzle.
I don't think there's a consensus, but I do think it's an unpopular opinion, at least around these parts....
Fizzles. All of them.
indeed fizzles.
