Great pics. I wish I could have gotten those seats. My son and I were at the show. RUSH was awesome. One of the best RUSH concerts that I have been to.

Not seats, photography credentials...better then seats and closer to the stage 2.gif

LOL someday I would like to be able to get a press pass, or as you say, photography credentials smile.gif

Got to shoot them on assignment yesterday for Pegasus News...

    Rush @ Superpages.com Center 9/26/2010

Words cannot describe how awesome it is to be that close to your idols!

I could only post up to 20 shots on Pegasus, but I'll have about twice that many on my own blog in a few days... will update when I do!

    Hope you enjoy!
    Danny

Wicked nice shots! If you don't mind my asking, what were you using for gear, settings, etc.?

I'm not sure about sending a note with it, though, and am wondering if I should bother since it seems they aren't being read.

I'm not sure who is reading them, but someone is. My note was the only place where I wrote my name and since my album was personalized, someone had to have read it.

It can't hurt to throw in a note.

I agree. Send a little note and sign it so they can personalize it for you. And by personalize I mean, they will put your name on it. What I meant by someone not reading notes was that I had included a note attached with my TSOR guitar sheet music. It seems like if someone had read it they would have understood why I was sending it in, why it was special to me and why I wanted Alex to sign it. Also, LM sent something in she wanted personalized for her son but that didn't happen either.

What's weird about it is that I signed each of the notes (and there was one for each of them in it's own envelope, with a family photo of us) from Kathy, David and Niall - so you'd think that if they we're not going to follow the direction of the letter and personalize it to who I asked (Niall) that they would put it to the persons that signed the letter (Kathy, David and Niall)...instead, it was just to Kathy and David. Just weird... confused13.gif

*edited to say that I'm not complaining by any means, I am so happy that I have something signed by them...I'm just sad that I don't have something signed to my son, which was the point of sending it in...*

Why didn't you just send in one photo and say please sign it for my son if that is what you wanted?

Definitely a bit of too much of a good thing going on with a few here when you send in multiple things to multiple places, right?

    to clarify -

    * it was one package sent to one venue with four items in the package. The item for them to sign (a tour book), and three envelopes (one each for Alex, Geddy and Neil).

    * inside each envelope there was a letter (each said the same exact thing, asking for them to sign the tourbook, personalizing it to my son), and a picture of the three of us for them to keep for themselves - a small personalization so they knew who was sending them the request, as I read in Roadshow that they do actually like and keep their fan letters.

    Not really that complicated. unsure.gif

In jdouglas' defense, your original post said you sent a tourbook and a separate envelope for each member. You didn't state that the envelopes were for them to keep. So it could easily have been construed that you might have wanted all 4 things signed. No need to sound condescending.

I had stated earlier in the thread what I had sent actually...I wasn't trying to come across condescending at all, I was merely trying to clarify that I wasn't trying to take advantage of getting multiple items signed - that isn't something that I would ever do, and I took a mild offense to someone I barely know implying that I was - hence the clarification. I was not intending to come across as condescending at all, and if I did, I apologize.

I've been in Chile for the past 4 months teaching English, and as luck would have it, Rush are making their first appearance here in October. Fortunately I have found a way to go.... and I AM EXCITED, to say the least tongue.gif

Anyone else ever seen Rush in South America???

    Yes, I am finally entering the 21st century.... applaudit.gif applaudit.gif applaudit.gif

I have my eye on the Canon Power Shot SX210IS (even though I should save my money and get a Digital SLR). Overall, the camera gets good to very good reviews.

I do most of my photography at sporting events, family get-togethers, and at fireworks displays. I also do scenic shots at home and abroad.

My newbie questions are as follows: Are digital cameras worth the extra money, and are the high-priced memory cards a ripoff? Is the Canon Power Shot a good starter camera?

    Thanks,
    WM

This is a decent camera - but if you're going to go for a camera that will serve as a Point and Shoot as well as have the functionality of a DSLR, I would go with the Powershot G11 - it may not have the MP rating of the one you're looking at, but it has more functions available to it, shoots in RAW format, and also has the option to add lenses to it if you so chose to do so.

I also wasn't too excited to read that Presto was on the list even though it's been retired for some time, they played it a lot in the early 90's.

Actually - this is the first and ONLY tour they played Presto. They rehearsed it for the Presto tour back in '89, but due to complications with Alex switching from electric to accoustic guitar, it didn't make the final cut of the setlist for the Presto tour.

Either way, the song sounded phenominal last night! 653.gif

Presto made me openly cry when I heard it both at the Mohegan and Boston shows. I was so THRILLED to hear it.

edit to include that this was my 11,111th Post new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

  10. Got my tour book back, signed, today - personalized....to Dave and me, not to Niall sad.gif Happy that it's signed, yes, and happy that it's personalized, yes...sad that it's not personalized to Niall which makes me think that they don't get anything else from the packages besides the items to sign and a post-it with the names from the bottom of the enclosed notes sad.gif

PS. I'll post a picture once I have a free moment to take one (I'm still editing, resizing and watermarking my 300+ pictures from Boston smile.gif )

Any idea who the girl in the opening video is? Didnt know if shes known or just an extra.

    I think it's Ged's daughter, Kyla.

Agreed - I believe it is Kyla.

No way! Cool. What was her name in the video.. Kuugula?

after doing a little interwebz searching...and feeling a little stalkerish for doing it unsure.gif ph34r.gif ...I found a recent picture of her and Julian from what looks like a family tree website for Nancy's family...so anyway, I did a couple screen caps of Kougala from the intro video, and put them side by side with the photo I found. Same jaw line, face shape, same eye brow shape, looks like the same mouth shape and nose. Hard to tell on the eyes, the glasses in the intro video obscure her eyes. Hair color is tough too, but that might be a wig...anywho, here's the pictures...

    HAIR!!!! wub.gif wub.gif

That was what ~really~ messed me up at the MN State Fair on Alex's birthday. I've never seen Ged's hair that long and I have a hair thing; then plus, I'd never seen them outdoors and there was this ~breeze,~ right, so I didn't breathe really for 3-1/2 hours.

*sigh* his hair is just beautiful wub.gif heart.gif
