Bittersweet is the word. I was thinking about that last Friday night as my brother and I shared what is likely to be our last Rush concert together. We saw them together 35 years ago, in a building in Chicago that's now long gone.

One thing that was emphasized before my meet and greet was "do not pass along any of your own songs to them." I thought about it and it must be a nightmare for them to get songs from fans, and worry if the fan will try to sure them for using a snippet. So they're very clear on that point - no written music.

I found the playing in the first set to be a bit perfunctory ("paint by numbers" I said to my brother), but the second set had a much better vibe.

Hey, it doesn't look like anyone on this board picked up my front row periscoping in Chicago? I had about 15 people watching it, so I know I tagged it OK for Rush fan viewing.

Yes Randy was there. He stood in front of me in the pit taking photographs. My brother got a knuckle bump. Very cool bonus to a good show.

I have it on reasonably good authority that my efforts to scope the whole show will not be entirely welcomed. So per the thoughts above, I'll try RTB in the first set, then try Natural Science in the second set and see how far I get.

Nothing wrong with someone asking that price. Probable problem with someone paying that price.

My brother, who occupies the other seat, in no way compares to Bob's girlfriend. At least, that's my opinion...

Greetings All. I have two quite amazing seats for the Chicago show Friday night, and even though I am an absolute, uncontested caveman on technology and social media, I set up a Twitter account, to return the Periscoping favor that so many have bestowed on me. I even tried it out and got it to work fine.

 

So my first question is, has anyone heard any stories about anyone being shut down while Periscoping during a show this tour? I haven't, and given Geddy's past comments about his mixed feelings about bootlegs, perhaps the band doesn't much care. Have people seen anyone told to put down a phone?

 

Second question (purely a fan preference question), if I'm unable to 'scope the whole show, what few songs should be my focus? My preference is second half of second set, but thought I'd solicit comments. Maybe, since I'll be likely getting Setlist C, I focus on YYZ and Natural Science? Other thoughts?

Picked up my new "F*** You Puppet" shirt for Friday in Chi. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Howdy y'all. Live Rush and Blackhawk Stanley Cup Finals. Even when the tour was announced, more than I could have hoped for.

Lightning win last night means no repeat Cup for us at Chicago show. Finals won't be over by this coming Friday. Too bad, it would have been neat to see the Cup on stage again.

Enough to buy a pretty nice car.
