  1. Slightly different running order at the Rock City gig in Nottingham but same intensity and magic . Really enjoyed seeing them for the first time and fortunate to be couple rows backs from the stage.

Just wasnt long enough but I guess they were the support band. Has definately whetted my appetite to see them again ( hopefully doing a full set )

Managed to shake hands with Daniel during Opeths set (he came into the crowd to watch part of it)Seemed a really nicely chap to boot.

  2. Looking forward to seeing Opeth and Anethema at Rock City, Nottingham tomorrow night.

Making a day and night of it , so few real ales and pub grub pre gig ( and maybe nightcaps post gig !) Got room booked in local Premier Inn so no worries about trying to get back home after :)

  3. Not sure if this has been posted yet but read this on DPRP:

Just in case it passed you by… a new album of Rush tracks will be released on 13th Novemeber 2012 performed by -->"]The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - along with some notable guests:

Earlier this month I let you know that the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is set to release a brand new set of studio recordings celebrating the music of Rush this coming November 13th. The orchestra is conducted by BAFTA award winning musician and composer Richard Harvey, and is well-known for their symphonic interpretations of Queen, Pink Floyd, ABBA and other artists. The CD will include dramatic reinterpretations of 9 Rush classics including Tom Sawyer, The Spirit Of Radio, Red Barchetta, Limelight and more. Yesterday they posted their version of 2112: Overture to SoundCloud which you can listen to at this link (thanks John at Cygnus-X1.net). Here are some more details from the press release:

… Nearly sixty musicians and thirty vocalists transform nine of RUSH’s greatest hits into even more intricate, soaring orchestral works. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra covers the best-known classics, from “Working Man”, the self-titled debut album track that launched RUSH’s career in the U.S. to “Subdivisions” from “Signals”, the album that proved electronic rock could reside in the top ten. The band’s most successful record, “Moving Pictures”, is represented by rousing versions of “Tom Sawyer” and “Red Barchetta”. Special guest guitarists include Steve Rothery of MARILLION on “Working Man” and Adrian Smith of IRON MAIDEN on “Red Barchetta”. The Windrush Choir provides backing vocals and solos. … The orchestra was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, conducted by BAFTA Award-winning musician and composer Richard Harvey. … The album was produced by James Graydon and Richard Cottle, who also arranged all the music

  4. I tend to drink more on quality than quantity these days.

Don't drink as means to an end = to get drunk.

Drink to enjoy the taste / flavours/ aroma etc.

Mainly real ales, good beers from around the world and single malt scotch whisky.

The odd glass of good vin rouge occasionally .

Only here once so have to make most of things (in moderation of course !)

  5. I have only got I, Vigilante so far.

Good stuff. Nice mix of sounds / styles ( including a Journey cover, and even an ABBA-esque bonus track )

I think Bastogne Blues is the standout track, epic and moving .

May investigate their other stuff soon...but just so much other good music out there to choose from !

  6. Talk Talk influenced a lot of late 90s / early 00s alternative bands including Elbow in the UK

Recently picked up Mark Hollis' one and only solo album released after the last Talk Talk album.

It is as good as the the last three Talk Talk albums IMO.

    A genius missed.
