  1. Nah, I'm no troll -- I think several New England users can attest to that! More write-ups coming soon -- I promise!
  2. Presto had POWER live. How about Vital Signs? Wow! What a light show.
  3. Aside from that, the boys were on FIRE. They played tight all night, the audience was LOUD and energetic (I was one of the crazies in the back row), and Alex and Geddy were hamming it up left and right.
  4. Nope. I've only done 4 write-ups in the last few days because of real-life issues and uploading Youtube videos!
  5. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 7 2010, 06:05 PM) QUOTE (Deckiller @ Sep 7 2010, 03:54 PM) Exactly! With that said... 78. "Xanadu" Just kidding! I'm not a violent person, but had that been true I would have been forced to kill you. There simply wouldn't have been any other choice. I won't be typing that word again for a LONG time
  6. Hey, I'm sure every fan would say that about every other fan's list!
  7. That's the hard part about this list. I've probably listened to each Rush song 30+ times, with just a few exceptions. Sometimes it takes a critical listen for me to really get an idea of where it stacks up. In hindsight, I'd probably rank Lakeside Park and Cinderella Man a bit higher.
  8. Let me just tell y'all that my top 10 will have its share of soft/emotional songs; don't worry!
  9. QUOTE (mong82191 @ Sep 6 2010, 10:06 AM) QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Sep 6 2010, 10:43 AM) How is Resist so high and Vital Signs so low? Because this is a joke, an interesting joke but a joke nonetheless. Nah, it's not a joke! Why would I spend so much time working on a joke against my favorite band?
  10. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Sep 3 2010, 08:34 PM) QUOTE (wrekinboy @ Sep 3 2010, 08:18 AM)You have rated 'Cinderella Man' below 'Neurotica'. Take a step back from this great endeavour for a moment and consider what you have done. I really can't find the words to fully explain how wrong that is.Agree tenfold. At this point, I feel Deck has revealed himself as merely an instigator (or a man of extremely poor taste) or both. QUOTE (wrekinboy @ Sep 3 2010, 08:18 AM)But as others have said, keep going, it's....interesting.Yeah. Well. I'm not so sure about that anymore. I seriously hope you're joking. Different opinions =/= "instigator" or "poor taste". Rush IS my favorite band, after all. I can't just invent Rush songs just to keep all their real songs above the bottom 20 percent.

I really can't find the words to fully explain how wrong that is. But as others have said, keep going, it's....interesting. Although based on the above I'm half-expecting you to place 'Tom Sawyer' and 'La Villa' outside the top 75. Both of those songs are far, far, far away from 75th place!
  12. Yeah, Nightwish is a great band. However, there's another band in a similar vein that contains my favorite singer. Her name is Floor Jansen, and her former band is After Forever. ANYWAY...back on topic. Hopefully more write-ups tonight! Got out of class early...
  13. Hints to future rankings... Here are some hints. My number 80 song is from Test for Echo. My number 70 song is a lengthy fan favorite that will surely get me gutted. My number 60 song is another lengthy fan favorite that was played partially on several recent tours. My number 85 song has a nice little bass solo that is elevated to epicness when performed live. My number 75 song might be a little...scary. My number 65 song can only be described with one expression: My number 50 song is just classic 90s. Any predictions?
  14. QUOTE (Ted Barchetta @ Aug 31 2010, 07:37 PM) QUOTE (Deckiller @ Aug 31 2010, 03:17 PM) Yeah, I generally like The Fountain of Lamneth. For a while, it was my favorite Rush epic. As for now...you'll have to wait and see If your fav. epic is Hemispheres, I take back everything I said about you and I love you. What if I told you it's not quite my favorite epic, but is considerably high on the list?
  15. Yeah, I generally like The Fountain of Lamneth. For a while, it was my favorite Rush epic. As for now...you'll have to wait and see
  16. QUOTE (tkdryan @ Aug 30 2010, 06:03 PM) QUOTE (Deckiller @ Aug 30 2010, 06:00 PM) Yeah, it's a Tarja avatar. It was hard finding a sprite that fits the 100 x 100. She's such a fantastic singer and has a wonderful, sincere smile. Truly an angel on Earth. It's unfortunate that she had to have a series of disagreements with Nightwish -- I can understand both sides of the debate on that issue. As for the post about how I shouldn't do this because I'm not a musician who is ranking these songs on an objective, technically-oriented basis...sorry! This is just my humble opinion. I enjoy ranking songs, because it allows me to a) listen to more Rush, listen to more Rush with a critical ear, and c) compare my opinions with other users. Yes, opinions change all the time. I have regrets on some placements -- but I'm having fun and learning things about my bond with Rush that I never noticed or had before. I wouldn't be dedicating this much time to the band if they weren't my favorites, trust me Nobody is perfect -- not even the boys -- and everyone is different. I understand that a deep understanding of music theory will change one's outlook on music -- that's probably why people say Dream Theater have no soul -- but you'll still have opinions that differ from others. I'm at least trying to keep the writeups short and simple, while cracking some humor with things I don't necessarily like. Love Tarja I wonder if people thought it was actually me? -=goes to the Boston pre-concert meetup=- "You're a dude with facial hair, not a beautiful Scandinavian lady!" I should probably change it!
