J2112YYZ
Zumbi has to own all the Rush albums on 8 Track And if they were never available on that format he will pay someone out of his own pocket to create it.

Principled Man
I still have very strong, not-so-pleasant memories of my 8-track tapes. I swear.....the best songs on every one were cut in two when the track changed......and, of course, the GUITAR SOLO always got cut......

J2112YYZ
The only thing I remember about these is that my dad had a player and some 8 track tapes in the garage when I was a kid. Can't recall what albums he had.

I think I'm missing 5 or 6 Rush 8-tracks up to Grace Under Pressure. Less if you count Archives (I don't count Archives as the individual albums.) If I find Yessongs, you can throw me about $3 or $4 for postage and it's yours. I only keep Rush 8-tracks.
OldRUSHfan
My Dad was an electronics maven, and had an 8 Track before we left Ypsilanti in '68. he had a recorder/player, some kind of 'sound enhancer' made by Radioshack [the REALISTIC brand] I may have a pic of it that may already be up on this site....in one of my RUSH shrine pics in 'Post a Pic of YOU'. The first 8 track tape my parents bought for me was "Offering" later changed to "Ticket to Ride" By The Carpenters and a comedy tape by Victor Buono, [the actor that played King Tut on Batman TV show] and a tape by Country Keyboard player Floyd Cramer] I recorded "A Farewell To Kings" for my friend Mike Stoll, and it was in the front seat of his car when he had his fatal accident. I kept that tape for a few years after that...I still believe 8 track system is THE STUPIDEST tape delivery system invented for commercial use. It's great for radio stations, for commercials, bits, call letter inserts, etc. but for music lovers, it's TOO STUPID. interuptions, etc. The 8-Track is probably my first venture into CURMUDGEONALITY. I wanted to take the damned thing out back and SHOOT IT TO DEATH!!! http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/banana%20Avengers%20Uma%20Thurman.gif Edited August 19, 2016 by OldRUSHfan
HemiBeers
If I still had my high tech Craig 8 track recorder I could make some tapes for you. I think it disappeared at a garage sale some years ago.

I have always been a cassette guy. This is the first (and last) 8 track player I have ever owned. I sounds pretty good and the vintage fits with other components in my system like my 1975 Teac 450 cassette deck, 1980 Sansui G9000 receiver, and 1984 Sony Turntable. The only difference is my stuff in still in mint condition. This 8 track looks a little rough in places. But, the price was right! Yeah, I kept that 8 Track recorder and the sonic enhancement unit for quite awhile before giving it up...I liked the sonic enhancer unit because of the rainbow effect X shaped lights on it. LOL I've replaced all the 8T tapes I had with CD....even the Victor Buono comedy tape! Oh, and I found a CD that has the version of "Yakkety Sax" that Floyd Cramer did on that 8T my parents had. LOL They were almost driven to distraction because I wanted MY music[ even though it was only The Carpenters, they were acceptable on the long trips to southern Indiana to see Mom's Brother.... http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/WooHoo%202%20banana.gif

Disembodied Spirit
Fun Fact: The cassette actually became more popular in Europe in the late 1970's before America as we had cars being made with a standard 8 track console until the end of the decade.

Lucas
Seeing the Van Halen 8 Track brings back a very funny memory ( which I probably told here a dozen times ) Back in 1978, I heard You Really Got Me on the radio and loved it - so my Dad takes the family to Two Guys ( big dept store here in NJ in the 70s ) and he buys me the Van Halen 8 Track which had just been released .. So I get home, pop the 8 Track in, and by the time the 2nd song comes around, I am perplexed - something is wrong with the tape - it must be the tape speeding up or warped tape falling off the spools or something .. I tell my Dad, and we go back to Two Guys and exchange the "defective" 8 Track for the record When I get home, the 2nd song sounds the same on the LP as it did on tape And that was my introduction to "Eruption"
