Favorite albums covers of all time ever!!!

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been done before, but even if it has it's an idea worth revisiting I think. What are some of your favorite album covers or all time ever? You can put yours in order, not put yours in order, put someone else's in order, argue with someone else about the validity of their opinions, and all that jazz, so long as you mention some of your favorite album covers.

One of my current favorites is Peter Gabriel's first album, "Car." It's so incredibly vivid, like it was computer generated, but it's actually a b&w photo that was hand painted afterwards. It's beautiful.

Btw, how do I post a pic? Idk...

Dave Greenslade: The Pentateuch Of The Cosmogony.

Remarkable art work by Patrick Woodroffe.

It is a double album that came housed in a large hardback book, telling the story of the music

in words and art. In all my time I have seen nothing to match it.

I still have my copy.

I'm going really obscure here. My favorite album cover of all time is Permanent Waves. After that:

The soundtrack to 2001: A Space Odyssey (Robert T. McCall's famous space station with the Pan Am shuttle blasting away from it)

Moving Pictures (perfect, like PeW)

The Cars' Heartbeat City (or any of the Cars' first three really)

The Best of Leonard Cohen (Leonard does look there like The Coolest, Suavest, Most Elegant Man in the World)

Abbey Road

Sufjan Stevens' Come on Feel the Illinoise (with Superman, before he was forcibly removed)

Kiss Alive! (when you see that cover as a kid, resistance is futile, you HAVE to have that album, and a lot did)

Shellac's Terraform (another space art cover, this time by Chesley Bonestall)

Also liked those Molley Hatchet covers of Frank Frazetta paintings. Covers much better than the music for my tastes.

Tis all good!

I forgot about it...I am always amazed by how little interest in artwork this forum is.

We must change that!

Have this too. Nothing comes close. It's insane.

I remember this one but I was thinking there was a more recent one.
