vaportrailer Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 "Love", but specifically Forever Changes. The early ones have their moments, but this one is something else entirely.Equal parts cloying and dark, the lyrics are smart, and smartly sung. Arthur Lee is an interesting singer, in terms of the timbres he chooses to use, as well as his phrasing. The arrangements are well-thought out, although I'm not terribly excited about horns and strings in rock.I quite enjoy listening to it at this time of year. Perfect Autumn music. There is a live version from Glastonbury 2003 that's pretty sweet, and a great "You Set the Scene" on Jools Holland's show. I find this darker, despite the orchestrations, and lyrically more interesting than the Doors :finbar: "There's a bluebird sitting on a branch.I guess I'll take my pistol.I've got it in my handBecause he's on my land." I love Love. 1

Kings Of Leon Only By The Night is one of my all time favourite albums...and I haven't really enjoyed anything else. UNTIL NOW! The new album is freakin beautiful.

invisible airwave Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Just about any politically charged punk rock band that doesn't bow to oligarchy. 2
EagleMoon Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I'm on a Riverside kick the last couple of weeks. 5
Todem Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Avenged Sevenfold Their new album The Stage is a Prog Metal feast. Seriously......amazing record and unexpected for me. My son introduced this band to me a year or so ago......and they have some great stuff. But this? Wow. Seriously wow. 1
Leanne Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 (edited) I've been listening to late 70s and early 80s adult contemporary bands/singers like Firefall, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Ace, Joe Jackson, Paul Davis and a couple others. And I just made a playlist on my iPod! Edited November 15, 2016 by Leanne 1
jamie Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I recently bought a 3-disc Budgie box set so I'm in Budgie mode again :P 1
Segue Myles Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 In Flames It's been years since a full on binge. They are still terrific to my ears!
