Roland Orzabal & Alan Griffiths (90s TFF and Roland's solo album)

I don't think this obsession ever ended. I constantly find myself coming back to these 3 albums in particular. Theres just something about them that I can't get out of my head

He will take more time than Fogelberg. A lot more to dig into, and a lot sounds very strange to my ears (I ain't American...a lot of this is very alien to me), but I'm impressed with the three albums I've listened too! He's like Springsteen in many ways

Peter Gabriel.

He is releasing a song a month this year (on every full moon) until by the end of the year a whole new album is out.  There are 5 new songs at this point, and they are really good!  I am obsessed by them...particularly, at the moment i/o.  I love that he is still making great music.

The man's songs are still relevant today. Timeless.

Yeah it's west coast jazz, I can see Lukather playing this stuff, he has. The Protocol albums are similar too, and they feature Simon Phillips.

Incidentally there's a new Steve Lukather album out.

They are few artists that can tug at my heart with their lyrics.

Tom Waits is one.  Jackson Browne is another.  In the 70's he just tapped into something very special.

Foo Fighters

I feel a bit embarrassed thinking how much I used to dislike them. Oh well, I adore them now.

I went off Foo Fighters after The Color And The Shape. Loved the debut. This latest album sounds fantastic. There's an attitude of not giving a f... IMO. It's emotionally charged compelling, going where it wants, proggy in places. Other F F's albums seem heavily scripted to me. This new album seems a force of nature. It's early days but I think it could be their best work. I'm still not a fan of their previous work, rarely, if at all, listening to it. Listening to The Teacher right now. I think I'll come back to this album again and again.

Avenged Sevenfold.

I avoided this band for years because of the "conventional wisdom"  that they sucked.

I tried them 2 years ago and actually found that these guys are actually tailor made for me and IMO have one of the most consistently enjoyable discographies out there.

the new one seems divisive (Though at the DT forum not as divisive as you might think.....mostly love across the board) but i absolutly love it's bonkers ass.

I'd say for me their weakest period are the two "mid point" albums. Nightmare and hail To the King.  not bad but both unremarkable.

but i love this band.
