It's rather a long and convoluted story that begins here http://www.robkmusic...ext-generation/

But the short version is now at 14yrs old he's jammin' with his "Old Man". :)

This is the most recent RUSH song we've done on video as a band: Limelight (RUSH cover)

I couldn't be a prouder father!

You have every right to be proud and then some. Your son is really good. Really good. i'd love to see how he would do on The Weapon.

And who is that on the lead guitar and singing?

I take it you're no longer on dial-up?

Well, more proof that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

So as not to distract my hearing, I didn't watch the video - I listened. I thought at first the lead guitar was Alex being dubbed in. You are very good, and you have a really good singing voice too.

How old was your son when he started playing?

I had to listen to it again.

First off, THANK YOU for your kind words. RUSH inspired me to become a musician and to be compared in ANY way is simply an honor I don't believe I deserve. I’ve been both Geddy and Alex in RUSH cover bands over the years. I’ve got a bunch of original material where people have compared my guitar playing to Alex’s. The interesting thing in this current situation where my son is on drums, is that I’m having to play the Alex parts while singing the Geddy vocals! This is an entirely new animal for me and an unexpected challenge.

A good example of this is the most recent RUSH song we’ve been practicing, “The Spirit of Radio”. I told the guys, “sure, played and sang this a million times, let’s work it up.” Only to discover, much to my chagrin, that playing that running guitar riff and singing the chorus is an absolute nightmare!

We haven’t done a video of it yet but I always record rehearsals, and after the last one I think we’re about ready to do it for a YouTube vid (maybe next week!).

My son has always demonstrated an affinity for drums (see that first link), but he only started lessons at 11yrs old.

For whatever reason, I can't hear TSOR no matter what I click on. I can hear the next song you do, but not TSOR.

You did a good job singing and playing on Limelight and would never have known that wasn't your usual dual role.

Thanks. Bizarre. Here's my main profile, maybe you can select it from there.

But yeah, hard as hell (for me) to play Alex and sing Geddy. RUSH isn't designed for that. LOL

Maybe I don't have the right plug-in, or maybe I am doing something wrong, but I am striking out altogether. sorry! :(

I really hope that he and other kids like him can help usher in a new era of rock n' roll and save it before it's too late. Edited by fraroc
