The Gush Over Rush Thread

I think he's said in more than one interview that it became his favourite song to play as the tour wore on, so if he didn't enjoy playing it at first I guess that was just it, at first. I imagine he was struggling with the synth stuff a little bit.

This is so cool, but I wish they'd done a real cover of the whole song! Alex's take on that riff is smokin', and I'd love to hear Geddy sing it.

Wow, I could watch this all day long. Alex's playing is great, and he looks really good here! Gush, gush . . . . .

This was that concert that was just a one-off, isn't it? They weren't on tour. Seems like I remember Geddy saying a bit about it in an interview.

Yes, it was when the Rolling Stones had to cancel a concert earlier in the spring due to that respiratory SARS stuff outbreak in Toronto. They came back later on and did a free show with Rush,AC/DC and some others to help show people Toronto was Ok for tourism again.

That SARS show I believe. They played it cause The Stones were there.

Yeah, the SARS benefit concert in Toronto in 2003. Here's a video of their whole set from that gig:

Right, and that's when Neil met Charlie Watts.

I wish I knew whatever happened to TRF member RUDT.

I owe him a huge thank you. If he had never shamed me into giving Snakes & Arrows another listen, I never would have listened to the album again.

The album has many great songs on it that have come to mean a lot to me.

so, RUDT, wherever you are: Thank you! :hug2:

 I remember you used to really dislike Snakes And Arrows. That whole thing where sometimes you find you "get" a Rush song that you've never cared for is nifty, isn't it? That's why even after listening to Rush a LOT over the past nine years, I still feel like I'm discovering the catalogue.

I think "RUDT" is now "rugen", and he was last here on July 13th.

I'm pretty sure that's right, I certainly hope it is, otherwise you might get a confused response!

I don't know Lorraine apart by the fact that she is very active on this forum... But i am not sure if she's a real Rush's fan when i learned that she listen to Snakes and Arrows only once and that she might listen it again next year... Even me i never like the sound of Vapor Trails, but i have listened to the album many times. It's never painful to listen to any Rush's albums.

This is the thread it was in: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?/topic/88203-whole-snakes-arrows-on-next-tour/
