The Gush Over Rush Thread

I really should read this thread...

Three songs from the nineties that I think are stone cold classics:

Everyday Glory

Cold Fire

Ghost Of A Chance.

Wait...THREE ISN'T ALL!

Dream line

Bravado

Roll The Bones (we should all love this...sorry it's a great song!)

Test For Echo

Resist

Time And Motion

Carve Away The Stone

Animate

Honestly...we poop on these albums but there is a lot to love about the nineties!

I do get in the rythm with these songs on your quick list! A special gush over Test For Echo. It's an underrated great song.

But please: remember Driven. A great progressive song of the 90's.

I dislike few songs, but I recognize as a good album. It's just cool in 90's style.

I can't say I love each and every song...but together they create a really odd, quirky listening experience! I love it, it's just...weird lyrically.

It sounds like they just wanted to be boys rocking around and having fun, but only this time they have decades of experience!

You nailed it.

The lyrics do differ from other album's styles, but it's like travelling: no one knows what will find, but it's still good.

Like a relaxing jam session.

It reminds me a lot of Fly By Night...it's just joyous and a bit silly...you can really tell that they are nervy and hilarious on T4E!

Interesting point.

I'm listening to Half the World now.

I also get into The Color of Right due it's rythm. It's very Alex & Geddy unique style.

And these lyrics specially sensitive, remind me a little of Hold Your Fire lyrics.

It's about time someone said this! The 90's are so often dismissed as bland but there are some great Rush songs from the decade.

Why didn't you say it then? :)

This thread is about gushing!

If you love something about Rush - anything - doesn't have to be an album or a song - gush away. :)

Go Al!!!!!!!!!

And the way the video ends wasn't planned, but when you hear the female voice say:

"Lights are going down. We love you Rush!!!"

What more can anyone say?

I just love this! I've watched it countless times. But it always makes me sad at the end.

I cry at the end every time.

I love Geddys hair. Especially the bushy 70s version.

Your question made me do some research! The photo is from around 1978. It turns out the bass is a very old Fender Precision bass, used to record Rush's first album, but then given a makeover with the body cut into a teardrop shape, the blue paint, and an extra pickup added. After that, it was used on the tours for A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves. Apparently the head stock was reshaped as well- photo and more details in this article-

Caress Of Steel is one of the bands best albums. In the seventies, second only to AFTK.

That was originally the Sunburst precision that he had years ago. I remember him saying he regretted cutting it up like that because it lost the good tone it had.
