Here's some heresy. AFTK is, hands down, their most overrated (here) album.

Xanadu is an all time great. But, literally, nothing else on that album is.

 

Closer to the Heart has NEVER been a favorite. Amazing that it was the first song to appear on successive live albums.

Xanadu, Cinderella Man...I love Closer to the heart also, but yeah...I feel mostly the same about AFTK.

Anyone ever wonder why the FM stations back in the seventies chose CTTH instead of Xanadu to entice someone to buy AFTK? I never remember hearing Xanadu on the radio. Ever. It's a mystery to me why CTTH was thought to be more of lure. Edited April 14, 2016 by Lorraine

"Closer to the Heart" is a great track, albeit overplayed. In fact, it's so overplayed I totally understand the criticism and derision it receives by some.

 

Anyway, it's a nice cliff notes version of a Rush song. It's arrangement is perfect for short attention span radio programmers.

 

Great song. Overplayed song. Go listen to "Madrigal"!

"Xanadu" is still nearly double the length of some of those songs!
