goose
Anyone feel that Vital Signs is half finished. I've ad libbed guitar solos over the end. It could have built to a massive crescendo.Interesting idea. It reminds me of how much better the Different Stages version of (the opening song off Roll the Bones - whose title escapes me) is. Lorraine
These might be Neil's best lyrics. They perfectly describe our present day country and world. The Universe dividedAs the Heart and Mind collidedWith the people left unguidedFor so many troubled yearsIn a cloud of doubts and fearsTheir world was torn asunderInto hollow hemispheres Some fought themselves, some fought each otherMost just followed one anotherLost and aimless like their brothersFor their Hearts were so unclearAnd the Truth could not appearTheir spirits were dividedInto blinded hemispheres
Lorraine
Hemispheres might be the best song Rush ever did. :musicnote: We will call you CygnusThe god of balance you shall be :musicnote: Edited July 28, 2017 by Lorraine

Mystic Slipperman
Hemispheres is a monumental achievement. So monumental for Rush that they never tried to duplicate/repeat/do a sequel. That said.. Moving Pictures is a friggin classic. I say MP by a nose. Or a Barchetta.

YYZ Working Man
Hemispheres for me. I always felt MP......Classic as it is......closed a little weakly with Witch Hunt and Vital Signs. Hemispheres is perfection through and though. Mick I vote MP edging out Hem .Witch Hunt must a been a drunk fest imagine vigilante chanting with the band and crew on the steps of LeStudio while vital signs was a recorded in one take to fill time as a last song on a near perfect album which was the pinnicle of their carreers . Album started strong and ended stong- the stars alligned during that session
RUSHHEAD666
If I didn't respond to this one then shame on me. "Hemispheres" makes "Moving Pictures" sound like a top 40 Brittney Spears record. Absolutely no comparison. "Hemispheres" is the true apex, zenith of the Rush canon. "Moving Pictures" is indeed a masterpiece, but at a level like ZZ Top's "Eliminator." Rush sold out to corporate commercialism and cashflow phantasm. BOOM! A HIT RECORD! "The Big Money" was written in 1981
WildKineticDreams
Both are iconic and classic albums and very important milestones in the Rush discography. Man this is tough. I actually could say that my opinion on which is better changes with time, but I have to go with Moving Pictures at the moment. There's such a great flow of amazing songs on it and it has The Camera Eye which is an underrated epic.

Nate2112
Hemispheres. Moving pictures is in my top 5 least favorite Rush albums. I only really like Red Barchetta and Camera Eye on that album. Hemispheres flows like melted water and honey

garyg7133
I have to lean toward Hemispheres on this one. There isn't a song on it that I skip through unlike MP which I am not a fan of TS or Witch Hunt.

rftag
I prefer Moving Pictures. Most Rush fans seem to consistently like all of the songs on the album except for Camera Eye, Witch Hunt, and Vital Signs. I initially didn't like Camera Eye but ultimately came to love it. I always loved Witch Hunt (I realize I am an outlier here but this may actually be my favorite song on the album). I never liked Vital Signs and still don't, though the fade out part is OK. It sounds more like a Signals song.
Segue Myles
Tom Sawyer- 8/10 I love this song! But...I always find it a little less than memorable compared to other songs on this record. Red Barchetta- 10/10 If someone told me this was the greatest Rush song of all time, and that rock in general never gets any better than this. Well fine. I agree! YYZ- 8/10 Massive sounding, melodic and just all round great. But I am a sucker for 80's Geddy vox so... Limelight- 10/10 Remember how I hyped up Red Barchetta? I love this song even more! The Camera Eye- 10/10 I cannot deny my love for this song. Honestly, I would take this over any of their other epic songs. I think this is perfection. Witch Hunt- 10/10 Remember how I hyped up Red Barchetta and Limelight? Well I love this one even more. Honestly. Vital Signs- 8/10 I love this song. You'd think I'd love Signals but...no. I do not.
