Moving Pictures is better. Half of Hemispheres is trash.

Which half?

I felt like you once...then the change took hold and now I love it all!

The first four tracks on Hemispheres are perfect, then I turn over the CD to listen to the other side, and my CD player refuses to play it  http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/confused/confused0006.gif Edited by Your_Lion

Hemispheres hands down. It was Rush's magnum opus. The insturmental arrangements, time & mood signatures, lyrical styling etc. Everything was perfect. Its deff their most genius and complicated album without a shadow of a doubt.

I still get lost in La Villa Strangiato.

Welcome to the Forum dude. Your post is right on the money although as a drummer I've been playing to "Hemispheres" for 25 years. I don't get lost in any song. I find bliss and enlightenment.

What is a mood signature?

Neil must have started those. But I didn't know he was having them as early as Hemispheres.

I love making up new vocab and passing them off as everyday words too. ;)

Is this thread a joke?

Comparing an epic progressive rock masterpiece to a fuckking cliche, corporate commercial rock record?

Hilarious.

I'm embarrassed by this novice thread.

Fanboi Foolishness.

Go with your MTV Radar Rectum.

Even Geddy Alex and Neil know that they peaked with "Hemispheres." Their energy was spent.

They had to scale it back hence created "Permanent Waves." I've read many interviews about that section of time.

They were out of ideas and had a very hard time putting out a new record.

Then "Moving Pictures" comes out and everyone jumps on the corporate bandwagon.

Yet "2112" was everything but what "Moving Pictures" taught the musical world.

Hypocritical Homage to Hogs And Hyenas!

Enjoy your commercial splendor!

"2112" saved the band's bacon. Not fukking "Moving Pictures."

"A Farewell To Kings" and "Hemispheres" are IT!

The true trifecta of progressive grit.

Get it?

Do the math. It's simple.

Alright you crazy bastard, think about this...

This is Hemispheres:

And this is Moving Pictures:

Edited to add 2112:

I think Hercules should be Hemispheres, HULK as 2112, Silver Surfer as Permanent Waves, Thor as A Farewell to Kings and Gladiator as Moving Pictures.

I see what your head is saying. But I'm going with a combo of recognizability, power, attitude, and lyrics.

@RushHead

Vapor Trails was amazing.... Especially Ghost Rider, vapor Trails and Secret Touch. It was like Niel was letting everyone know he'd be ok.

The sound quality was shit but considering how long it took to write and record the album its understandable that it was

ost likely rushed.

Two solutions: Vapor Trail Remixed or good headphones. :)

The self titled RUSH record already has that "comic book" feel to it. Which Superhero would represent that album?

Marvel's debut hero for that debut album.

Something fiery and tough.

And not that punk from Fantastic Four.

I've been gone so long I've lost count of the years
