Noticed a trend while driving 12 hours across the country...

Rock stations are dying.

Effing country taking over, stations I knew to be rock at one time are now country. I used a site called radio locator while my wife drove to find stations in the area... 1, maybe 2 rock stations in the list of dozens in the area. :(

Always liked the variety radio stations give, guess I have to connect the ipod

It surprises me that country has so many fans.

It's what mainstream pop (the white part of it at least) was 20-30 years ago.

I actually don't play the radio 99% of the time. Occasionally I'll pop in a CD or hook up the MPEG for really long drives. I enjoy the solitude of driving in quiet and all the music distracts me from the voices in my head.

Country isn't taking over. Pop and rap are.

not where we drove! Like 60% of the stations were country

Did you drive through Iowa? Because then it would make sense.

We have a select few rock stations, one of which is the shitty grunge station, one is an awesome rock station that plays everything from the 60's to new stuff, and a "mommy rock" station where they play all the one hit wonders and Foreigner, and any song that has the word "damn" or "hell" in it gets bleeped out.

Pittsburgh still has a few rock stations and so does Cincinnati.

Yes, Cleveland had a number of them too.

Had or has?
