treeduck
I got a reply: Hi Tony, I didn't do that one as I was working with Aerosmith and unable to go to England at the time. I recommended Roger Stowell who shot the band at Clearwell Castle in Wiltshire where they rehearsed before going to Wales to Record. I came over at the mixing and shot the PR picture used for the promotion. Regards, fin So Clearwell Castle.Good work Tony you old curmudgeon. :goodone:

LeChuck
Cool! I had also mailed Roger Stowell but was waiting reply. This looks like the gigantic door, light fixture, and balustrade from the photo: Photo of Deep Purple in the same spot .. http://www.deep-purple.net/gallery/mk3/clearwell2.jpg

It would make sense. Haven't watched the video in awhile so not sure if it is or not. Edited March 21, 2016 by Wil1972

That was my first thought when I looked at it - I wonder how much it cost to heat the place? It's probably nice and cool in the summer on account of the thick walls, but it must be damp. Lorraine
This is fascinating stuff .. I love historic homes and buildings, and the great designs and architecture of the past .. i find it fascinating as well, and also love historic homes and buildings. I hate it when they are destroyed because it would cost a fortune to build something similar today even if you could find the craftsmen (and the materials) to do it.
Lucas
Very interesting bit on Clearwell, and Black Sabbath Seems it does have a dungeon, and inspired the riff in Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath After a month in Los Angeles with no results, the band opted to return to the UK, where they rented Clearwell Castle in The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England. "We rehearsed in the dungeons and it was really creepy but it had some atmosphere, it conjured up things, and stuff started coming out again". While working in the dungeon, Iommi stumbled onto the main riff of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", which set the tone for the new material. Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman was brought in as a session player, appearing on "Sabbra Cadabra" and "Who Are You?". http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yXitNWpbph8/VBHOXpRbBHI/AAAAAAAAHGA/CwAwzQ2SKi8/s1600/Sabbath%2BBloody%2BSabbath%2B-%2BInlay.jpg
