When I decided I wanted to learn how to play guitar like Alex it kept me in my room and out of trouble after age 15. Oh I still got in trouble but not as much as I would of if I didn't spend so much time at home. It kinda still works when you think of it . ytserush Posted February 26, 2016 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I've had a good time recently reading the various threads on here about the relative merits of this album over that album etc. I've come to the realisation that most posters on here would probably disagree with me over what's good and what's bad, and that's great. Surely the fact that there seems to be something for everyone in their back catalogue is their greatest strength? No matter what my mood there's almost always something to suit. Honestly is there any other band in history you could say that about? There is something for everyone and everything for me. What's not to love.... At this point their longevity is a big one. They've been a part of so many of our lives for so long it would be hard to imagine them not being there. Also their music has changed over time so now we consider there to be different eras. If someone doesn't like one era they might like another. A big one for me personally is that their music has always been challenging to learn. Little nuances and unusual time signatures and interesting lyrics keeps it interesting. Yes through the years their concert prices have always been reasonable. Then again they're the only band and one other I'll pay just anything to see them live. I just wished of the 50 shows I've seen of them I would've been able to see them in a foreign country that the main language isn't English. From my first show GUP in '84 I was TOTALLY amazed that three guys could make such beautiful noise. Saw them two more times on that tour and five on PoW.....so on. Never heard them curse, never cancelled a show, never seen a screw up or missed lyric and never dissappointed me in any of the shows I saw. Theyre the ONLY band out of hundreds and hundreds of concerts ive seen I can say that. Btw, that signature picture yours is the very best I've seen of the three together. That picture is simply just cool and sort of tells the story about them. Oh one more thing they don't mind making fun of themselves. Lol. DirkPrattLerxst Posted March 2, 2016 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) For me it's a mixture of their amazing sound coming from just the three of them, their sense of humor that other bands often lack, their incredible musicianship, their interesting songwriting, and how there are different eras and sounds that Rush went through that offer something for everyone.
