Bigbobby10 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I just listened to this song again, and I have to say, this song is beautiful. Im not sure why it took me so long to figure out how beautiful this song truly is 11
Day of Light Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I liked Halo Effect before it was cool. 7

laughedatbytime Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I enjoy this one, even though it's my eighth or ninth favorite on the album, it's better than anything on Presto. 3
presto123 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 One of my least favs on CA. Probably because it sounds like a leftover from Snakes and Arrows. 2
RUSHHEAD666 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I liked Halo Effect before it was cool. Does that mean I made it cool? "Be cool or be cast out!" "Halo Effect" sucks! I would rather "Halo" by Porcupine Tree and even that song is a redundant random boring pop tune. 1

RUSHHEAD666 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Half The World.... Half the HaloHalf the Halo effect is a cliche piece of shit. Neil didn't retire because of his withering fat smoker's chest body.He quit Rush because he can't write anymore. Time for a red apple! No really! I'm going to eat a honey crisp before bed. Her name is Maybe. I mean Sadie.

The Cat 3 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 It's a great song. There are the emotional consequences that go hand in hand with the regret of making a bad decision. The hindsight of realizing that "I really should have known better". That's what I think lies at the heart of this song. I think of the song, "The Lady Lies" by Genesis. There is a line that says, "But he never escaped them, for who can escape what he desires?" The lines of right and wrong get blurred in the face of the "Halo Effect". I love the song musically as well...there is a certain sadness to it that is quite beautiful. 5
Segue Myles Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I enjoy this one, even though it's my eighth or ninth favorite on the album, it's better than anything on Presto. Subjective. I would take Superconductor over Halo Effect. Never liked this song.
JohnnyBlaze Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 One of my least favs on CA. Probably because it sounds like a leftover from Snakes and Arrows.Yeah, pretty much. It's 1 of 5 tracks that I don't care about on Clockwork. 1
Rod in Toronto Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I like CA...but Halo effect does nothing for me. Even this Halo is better: 1
HemiBeers Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) Halo Effect is a modest song but it's well placed in the CA album in the middle of all the heavyness. I think any guy has had the experience of placing the unattainable girl on a pedistal, so I certainly can identify with it. I consider Halo Effect like Different Strings in Permanent Waves. AnEggplant Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I agree, beautiful song indeed! I can say the same for the whole album.
lifeson90 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) awful track, one of four or five on album i just dont listen to but yeah, Al's live extended intro made it much more interesting. we need a new rush album. Edited February 19, 2016 by lifeson90
Slim Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 It is a nice tune. I like it. It reminds me of REO Speedwagon, pretty ordinary radio pop-rock really, but at least it's thoroughly coherent, tuneful and listenable. I'm sorry to say that by 2012, that surprised me a lot where this band is concerned.
