apetersvt
Play Hemispheres at the same time, only much louder? Speaking of Hemispheres, I just ordered my new licence plate: HMSPHRS. So if anyone sees a Virginia plate with that it's me. So, I've gone from LAMNETH to 21I2 to HMSPHRS. I don't think a PRESTO plate will be in my future though. DirkPrattLerxst
I've put Presto into Audacity and boosted the bass with EQ. You can hear the bass better but it still sounds somewhat distant. I still like the album though.
RUSHHEAD666
Turn it up! :bang bang: HAHAHAHA!!! Classic buddy! As you know I LOVE this record! I have two subwoofers behind my couches. I always TURN IT UP and crank up the bass too! I will never understand the hate for this record, yet I am bashed for hating "Vapor Trails." A complete train wreck. goose
Goose seems to think that an argument can be made for the songs on Hemispheres sounding the same, but not on Presto. I agree with him. What say you? I say Goose enjoys being a contrarian a bit too much. ;)Sylvan offers courses in reading comprehension for all ages.

The Cat 3
I quite like the way the SHM version sounds...much "fuller". The Audio Fidelity version is pretty good as well.
DirkPrattLerxst
"Show Don't Tell" from Different Stages sounds fantastic. It's so much heavier with the Jazz bass and the guitar has a meatier tone.
EagleMoon
Presto sounds like it was recorded from AM radio to a portable cassette player and then played though a Christmas wrapping paper tube.

I still like the album though. I can't believe you had the Audacity to do that.
New World Kid
How to make Presto sound better. Step 1: Stop being a "old Rush good, new Rush bad" jerk. Step 2: If desired, turn up your bass. Either with a single knob, or in an equalizer. Step 3: Enjoy.
toymaker
This is a bit complicated, but bear with it and you're sure to have satisfactory results. 1. Set up two stereos facing each other. Make sure the speakers are not facing each other too perfectly, or there will be "noise cancellation." 2. Prepare to play the vinyl lp on the back stereo, and boost the bass by +4 and decrease the treble -2 3. Play the CD version on the front facing stereo and boost the bass by +6 and keep the treble flat. 4. With a friend's help, keep attempting to start the albums at the same time until you get it right. 5. Position yourself exactly in the centre. 6. After Show Don't Tell ends, reposition the speakers so there is "noise cancellation."

No, there is a much more complicated procedure that I go through so that I don't have to listen to it. I kid. I like about 50% of it. Or maybe 40%. "Hand Over Fist" is not part of the 40%.
