Has Geddy's delivery of a lyric moved you?

I have to steel myself to listen to The Garden so I don't fall apart. I rarely listen to the song for that reason.

But, that's another one.

It's a measure of a life.... (I think that's what he's singing, hard for me to tell)

And the last time Geddy sings in the fullness of time, a garden to nurture and protect kills me.

Ah, yes, The Garden.... the great divider of TRF. I love it, likely for the same reasons you do.

The first time I heard it and really listened to it, I knew Neil was coming to the end of his time in the band.... and I understood why.

Most of us here who are long in the tooth relate to that song. And while I know it was Neil's words, I think both Alex and Geddy could equally relate to that song given their station in life.

But, yeah, that song, and Geddy's interpretation, speak to me. As I grow older I realize my legacy, if I have one, is not in material possessions or experiences, but it whatever good I put into the world for others.

I love the Garden too. If Sheldon hates a song that much it's gotta have something going for it!

Seriously, though, I do love it. Every time I think of my father-in-law I think of the Garden. The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect...

Moved me to the pub. :hail:

Treeduck, see if you can talk Tick into making you his VP.

VP? Does that mean I basically lay around until Tick goes on holiday?

Right, and stand next to him the rest of time with a big smile on your face. So, practice smiling. :)

Practice this  too.

A great thread. On the mellow side Ged's voice on Tears,Avaidable Light,The Sphere,Presto.Something For Nothing for pure out and out blast but for my money Red Barchetta'Suddenly across the mountainside' and Countdown'With the eyes of the world,we stare'.His delivery on these two parts always get me looking to the heavens! We are planets to each other

Drifting in our orbits

To a brief eclipse

Each of us a world apart

Alone and yet together

Like two passing ships

Just between us

I think it's time for us to recognize

The differences we sometimes feared to show

Just between us

I think it's time for us to realize

The spaces in between

Leave room

For you and I to grow

Sheldon says he doesn't like it, but I heard he goes into a closet with his ipod and listens to it for hours. :)

I can see that, especially if he lives alone.

My lifeblood spills over...

The most endangered species

The honest man

Will still survive annihilation

The bell tolls for thee

I'm sure there's more but that is off the top of my head.

We hold beliefs as a consolation

A way to take us out of ourselves

Meditation or medication

A comfort or a promised reward...

This may be the definitive statement Peart has made in the last 25 years or so.

Windows and Snakes are, in my opinion the peak of the union of Geds vox and Neils words.
