The Cat 3
Not a fan and although I don't take pleasure in people dying, sort of 'meh' for me. While I admire him for keeping his illness under wraps, I'm cynical that his latest album is released about the same time that he died. Somewhere, somebody had the idea of 'hey this should sell well if...'.I don't think this is the case. I think Bowie wanted to pass doing that he does. I just listened to Blackstar and I really think it was meant as a sincere swan song.I couldn't agree with you more.
custom55
A lot of David Bowie coverage on the news channels. Great to see as he deserves it.
Tombstone Mountain
He was creative right until the very end. Impeccable at his craft. His influence expanded into modern culture.Thank you for giving us Stevie Ray Vaughn!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-JqH1M4Ya8 Here's some SRV with David Bowiehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4d7Wp9kKjA Thank you Sir Davidhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hDbpF4Mvkw Edited January 11, 2016 by Tombstone Mountain

Lorraine
This really reminds me of the way Freddie Mercury died. The new album released shortly before his death, the secrecy regarding his terminal illness, the swan song nature of the album, I think Bowie wanted to go out similarly to Freddie. I understand what you are saying, but I don't think he intentionally intended the similarities to Freddie at all. Any similarity is coincidence.

To each his own and all, but the insinuation about album sales was definitely not necessary.

djflex
I posted this just now in bowie thread, but meant it for the rip thread. Excuse the copy pasta.. 13 PMI guess one memory that always stuck out to me were his early SNL appearances. Many of us can recall just how out there those were. I remember seeing them going, what in the world is this. It truly was something to see. I think the first album i owned was ziggy, but cant remember for sure. My favorite songs are cat people (putting out fire) and TVC 15 . I guess Im not as huge a fan as many on here but a fan still. I always thought to myself here is an artist who does what he feels. Never scared to buck the trend and try something different. As i said in my first post, thanks for the memories man

Lorraine
Hahaha, Google is my new friend. He did Little Drummer Boy with Bing. Thought I remembered being thrown off balance when I saw them do it on television back then. This wasn't the Ziggy Stardust I knew.
