My Hobby....Models!

I used to do Airfix ones when I was a kid. I wasn't very good at it though, I used to get the glue all over the plastic which seemed to melt it. So I had all these melted patches all over it!

Yes, it takes patience and skill as far as the usage of glues, paints and also care in handling small parts. You can do it, Ducky.

I know you can....I'm clumsy in some ways, myself....not everyone can do everything, but that's a pretty poor excuse of someone who doesn't want it bad enough!

That was decades ago mate I've not made one of those models since the late 70's!

Just sayin'...if the mood hits, don't deny yourself the chance!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/Joyful%20bouncing%20banana.gif

I've still got glue fingers!

Finger nail polish will fix that....

I was never into nail polish, except I've just learned that you can use the different types as 'special colors' for building models, so I guess that's pretty cool! I've seen a site that's about model cars, usually 'Show Car' type models, and a lot of them built models using some of their wives nail polish! In my life, I was into colored gems, and jewelry that used them...even pearls and exotic stones. That was MY fascination as a child....I LOVED that big ruby ring Barnabas Collins had in "Dark Shadows", and the silver wolf's head that topped his cane. They make recreations of that cane for over $1,000... but unless I hit the PCH sweepstakes prize, I ain't gettin' one o' those!

Yeah, I remembered that most polishes for nails are basically Lacquers, and most lines for models include lacquers also.

On hold until I find out how to use friends to get info on how to use the photo etched panels with out ruining them with paint......working more productively with the P-51 D, although it's been waiting on my mood to change back to model building mode also. It's coming though!

Just contacted my online model club, asking if anyone knows how to get over my problem with the A-10 I'm having....checkin back in a day or two. The P-51 D is still in line, but my interests are not in that mode yet. I still feel that'll get moving soon. Sorry folks. My moods change quickly these days.......

Today, a BUNCH of stuff happened. I received a new X-acto cutting mat,[yes, I put some hot stuff on the one I bought in Feb. and it bent out of shape.] The new one is 18 in. x 24 in. and still 'self healing'. I also received a Monogram '58 T-bird customizing kit which has a bubble top with it! That's gonna be cool!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/Monogram%2058%20T-Bird%20bubble%20top%20sm.jpg

I also got an oldie I still have parts from of an AMT model of a '73 Mustang Stock Car racer. They package the models these days with so many extras...YUMMY!

Oh man that one's just begging to be painted into a Batmobile. It's good like that already but I can see the Bat-possibilities.

Hmmm...Yeah, I can see that also! I found a site/board {proboard compliance needed} which has a gallery of most of it's members models they've customized and it is SOOOOO cool! Coffin Corner 2 brings it up if you google it....

Also, both the T-Bird and that '55 Chevy kit I got are/were by Monogram models [now a part of Revel ] So I guess Monogram were into bubble tops back in the late '50s...

The A-10 question is not getting any attention on my model fan site, and I'm already into another phase, automobiles now, and I've reclaimed several. Some I used to own, and some I've always wanted to own.....

Here's the one I'm concentrating on right now, It's a model that was released two years before the "Deal's Wheels" line, but if you know about the line, you can tell the cover art is Dave Deal's all the way! It was Revell's first attempt to take Dave's art and make a model to 'bring it to life' as it were! The actual 'Deal's Wheels' line didn't start up til '71, according to info on the web. I have a lot of them now, but I started out with the 'Glitter Bug' which I also have to rebuild!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/Bed%20Bug-%20main%20floor.jpgThe main chassis

I will keep abreast of developements...[better than I have up til now]

On to the 'List' of the 'new focus' of my attention now....

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-%20Der%20Beetle%20Bus.jpgI bought this when it first came out in the early '70s. It's destroyed now, Still have a few pieces of it in the 'Junk box'...painted it silver, and a friend painted the back window strangely, I think I still have that part somewhere...I'm going to paint this one in Uof Michigan football colors, and the other one I bought maybe the same as I did the first time!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-%20Rat%20Packer%20Chevy%20II.jpgThis was part of a 'series' called 'Street Freaks' and there was a '66 Mustang in the same series. I have that, assembled, but a couple parts are missing, and I'm getting another model soon.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT58%20-Piranha%20Car%20Man%20from%20U.N.C.L.E..jpghttp://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-Piranha%20super%20spy%20car.jpgthis is the 'Spy Car' I've got 'in process' now also. 'Extras' include rockets, Laser unit, machine guns and such...

"Here I go again, on my own...."

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-%2063%20Corvette.jpg This series included the famous '63 'Split window' Vette. did this in silver, because of the picture on the front of the Capitol records 'hot rod' song record "Shut Down" had a silver Vette on it. Gave this to my parents when I left home, and my Mom kept it a long time! I still have it packed away...

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-%20Super%20Shaker%2064%20Impala.jpg This kit is in the same 'series' as the 'vette. I always liked the '64 Impala, and this was one of my favorite kits in appearance anyway! Going to try to get the correct color to make it like this. Maroon perhaps. You have to 'make do' with paint for the chrome surrounds on the rear lights. That sucks, but whatchagonnado, eh?

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-58%20Chevy.jpg I have this model, partially built, painted in Lilac and ready for building in the CUSTOM manner! This one is going to be in the DRAG manner. I have a Diecast one in green/convertable format, so DRAG it is it!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/AMT-Fruit%20Wagon.jpg This is a model I haven't seen before, but I think it's been around for awhile. I was after this type of kit for awhile, and will enjoy this one!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/MPC-%20Ice%20Cream%20Truck.jpg This is one I made along time ago, but never finished also. Mine is going to be the same as when I did the last one. White, but I'm going to try to find some appropriate decals for it, The red decals don't fit in my vision.

More will get added when and if they proceed!

Ok, just got the second "Bed Bug" in the mail, this person DID keep everything! Some is already assembled, tires, some subassemblies of the suspension front and back, he didn't put the engine in correctly, but I've already got that done on the older chassis. More pics this week...

The third "Bed Bug" has arrived, and it IS complete in every way. I'm going to build this one as a brand new project! Now I know why a lot of modelers buy two or more kits a time. Sort of a trial run that opens up inspirations and different ideas as to how to proceed as you go through the build. THIS IS FUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!

The NEW Bed Bug...Here's the chassis and engine, you can compare these pics with the former ones,

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/Bed%20Bug-%20engine%20complete%202.jpg

The engine in focus this time! Note the detail and mostly the better job I did this time!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Model%20Stuff/Bed%20Bug-%20engine%20complete%201.jpg

This has flat black, dark gray instead of light gray, and the flat white 'tubing' was done Much better this time....more later...
