I like it a lot. One of my favorites from the album.

I think it's the best song on the album actually. I think Far Cry is a good song but it's just been played to death. TMMB is also good.

I have A&S second to Workin' Them Angels.

Oh yes forgot about Workin them Angels. That's a great tune!

Love Spindrift too. Also We Hold On, a song hardly anyone likes.

I don't love Spindrift and understand why a lot of people despise it but I enjoy the dissonance it has.

I don't like it on the whole, but the sinister-sounding beginning is pretty cool, and the "little closer to you" part isn't too bad.

I think the unpopular S&A tunes I dig the most are The Larger Bowl and Good News First.

Only song I don't care for on the album is Spindrift.

Anyone else love this song? It rocks so hard and is a great all around song IMO.

I love it too.

Yes!

"No one gets to their heaven without a fight"

Love that line :)

Me too. Because it's true.

One of my favorite lines.

This song says so much about life in general, what people learn, live and get inside.

What I appreciate here is how Neil describes possibilities, like:

"Sometimes the fortress is too strong

Or the love is too weak"

"Sometimes the spirit is too strong

Or the flesh is too weak"

"Sometimes the need is just too great

For the solace we seek"

"Sometimes the damage is too great

Or the will is too weak"

It takes deep into emotions. One of the best songs Rush has ever made!

You nailed it, Rhyv. It does dig deep into the emotions - the lyrics, the way Geddy sings them, and Alex's guitar. Many times during the song tears come to my eyes. Most of the time, I don't know why, but it is usually when they are singing the lyrics you posted.

Armor & Sword and Spindrift are at or near the bottom of Snakes & Arrows for me. I appreciate the lyrics in A&S but find the pace so plodding that it irritates me. With Spindrift, there is an angst or ferocity in the vocals that seems out of place with the lyrics. I like most of the others in varying degrees. I enjoyed watching Neil play Workin Them Angels from up close on the S&A tour in Ottawa.

I thought I was a rare one who loved this song. It's a modern Rush gem. Easily up there with Far Cry as a favorite S&A song. I listened to S&A with headphones a few weeks back...it felt fresh and new.
