ALifeson85 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 CLEARLY is the mid-section of the 2nd set...Jacob's Ladder, Hemispheres, Cygnus X-1, CTTH, and Xanadu. Ok - well the entire 2nd set was pretty much epic - but that particular section of the...KILLER! Just MY opinion... ;) 11
Todem Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) 2nd set is glorious. Between The Wheels, Losing it and Subdivisions. And Eugene Levy (Wow.......wow). That is all. Edited November 23, 2015 by Todem
PolarizeMe Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Well, that second set and in particular Jacob's Ladder through Xanadu was the best part of R40 Live for me as well! But how 'bout that Losing It?The one with Ben Mink that is...cause just my opinion, that performance was better captured than the one with Jonathan Dinklage (that one was a tad rough performance and production wise for my tastes but the Dink totally nailed that solo and made it his own though!) Oh, and also Alex with his now infamous "F**k you puppet!" line.
TFEman Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I really love Between The Wheels, Subdivisions, and the entire second set 1
DirkPrattLerxst Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 IMO it started getting better at Animate which was a surprising stand out for me.
Union 5-3992 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Main Monkey Business is a bit of an underrated track. I know it puts some folks to sleep but Neil's drumming is interesting and Alex has a good solo in the middle of it 1

Mr. JD Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The best part of the R40 DVD for me is the memories it brings back of being at that show with my daughter and our road trip to Canada last summer. Some of the best memories of my 55 year old life. 6
bordercollie Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Main Monkey Business is a bit of an underrated track. I know it puts some folks to sleep but Neil's drumming is interesting and Alex has a good solo in the middle of it Geddy subtly changing up the bass lines as well to give it a slight new twist.

ytserush Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 The first set, film shorts and the light show save this DVD. The passion and fury isn't as consistent in the second set.

How can we take anyone seriously who won't even divulge their gender? ;) Depends on the day. ha ha. Geddy's bass collection is another reason to own this DVD too. Forgot about that. And clearly the band is having a blast most of the time. So there's that. Edited November 29, 2015 by ytserush 2
Disk98 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 The whole darn thing is awesome, to be honest. But Natural Science thru 2112 is definitely the best part. 1

I never liked it, being a well-known despiser of anything Snakes, except Farcry. But Monkey was really pretty stinkin good this tour. I liked it. :outtahere: 2
AnEggplant Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Main Monkey Business is Rush's 2nd best instrumental, only behind La Villa Strangiato.
callmejim Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I've stil to check out what bass Geddy is using on Hemisphere and Cygnus X:1 but that sounds the dogs bit to me.Just awesome.
EagleMoon Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I've stil to check out what bass Geddy is using on Hemisphere and Cygnus X:1 but that sounds the dogs bit to me.Just awesome. Red jazz bass with rosewood fingerboard.
shail Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 It sounds like pure crap. ESL is the only live DVD worth viewing. So muddy. All of their blu Ray / DVD's do. No separation. Looks great. Sounds like pure poo
Tony R Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Picture on the Bluray is very good but the sound is a bit hot for my tastes. The section Nat Sci thru 2112 is excellent.
